The world of Asian horror gets a whole lot more terrifying with the hotly anticipated release of Siren, the live action feature film adaptation of the popular Playstation 2 video game! Also known by the alternative title Forbidden Siren, this 2006 survival horror thrill-fest from director Tsutsumi Yukihiko features a plot that coincides with the events of the second game in the Siren series. Set on the remote, rural island of Yamijima just off the coast of the Japan, Siren centers on the plight of a mild-mannered freelance writer (Morimoto Reo), who relocates his family to the film's dark, forbidding location. Along for the trip are his anxious, already grown daughter and his sickly young son, both of whom join dad in a seemingly ancient, suitably creepy Japanese-style house.

Not long after settling into their not-so-cozy new home, things take a dramatic turn when a slightly disturbed neighbor shows up at their doorstep to give the family some friendly advice about abiding by the local customs. Above all, the family is warned to never, ever venture outside whenever the island's siren, itself housed within a sinister steel tower, begins to wail. What is the secret of the siren? And what does it all have to do with the powerful group of undead creatures wandering outside in the dark? And most importantly, will the writer's family live to tell the tale? 　　Two firemen, Jun-wu and Hyon, are both in the same unit, but have very different views on firefighting, Jun-wu is a warm-hearted man who does not care about the danger in his rescuing activities, and Hyon who believes only rational and reasonable actions can control the fire site. During one mission, their team is ordered to leave a family inside a burning building, Jun-wu still wants to save them, but is pulled away by Hyon. Their conflicts eventually escalate to the point that Jun-wu leaves the force. But when his girlfriend is involved in a potentially fatal accident, all differences must be put aside in order to save her life.
