In 2002, Korean modern rock group Sister's Barbershop made their name known in the world of Korean indie rock with their third release Pop Song Of Dream, successfully penetrating the mainstream market with their now-signature hit Soon gan eul mi deo yo ("Believe In The Moment"). After three grueling years, the group finally unveils their fifth effort Most Ordinary Existence, an introspective album that digs deep into the meaning of one's existence. Taking the listeners on a journey of self-discovery and soul-searching, the album features tracks with unique titles such as Neo neun ahk maga dwe er gago it neun ga? ("Are You Becoming A Devil?"), Inseng eun geum mool ("Life's a Taboo"), and 100 nyeon dong ahn euh jin shim ("Sincerity Over a Hundred Years").

3집 [꿈의 팝송]을 통해 인디 역사상 공전의 히트를 기록하고, 전작 [순간을 믿어요]를 통해 대중성을 확보하며 우리나라 모던 락 자체를 대변하는 밴드, 언니네 이발관. 그들이 4년간 자신들의 모든 것을 건 시작 같은 완성작인 5집을 가지고 찾아왔다. 앨범 발매 콘서트를 치른 후 무려 8개월이 지나도록 수백 번의 재 작업을 거치며 총 3년에 걸쳐 완성된 이 앨범은 어떠한 장르적 구분도 필요치 않은 작품이다. 이것은 음악이 담긴 앨범의 형태를 띠고 있으나 누군가에겐 영화나 드라마로 보일 수 있을 만큼 시각적이며 또 누군가에겐 소설로 읽힐 수 있을 만큼 강한 네러티브를 갖고 있다.

이 앨범은 어느날 자신이 결코 특별한 존재가 아니라는 섬뜩한 자각을 하게 된 어떤 사건으로부터 비롯되었다. 눈부신 세상에서 홀로 보통의 존재가 되어버린 당신은 무슨 생각을 하고, 무슨 일을 겪으며 살아가고 있는가. 그 모든 각각의 풍경과 이야기들이 담겨 있는 ‘언니네 이발관’ 5집 <가장 보통의 존재>가 8월 8일 발매된다.
