Hong Kong producer / director / screenplay writer Wong Jing is always good at incorporating the hottest social issues into his films and turning them into box office hits. Though famous for making comedies, this time he switches to writing the scripts for a thriller Slim Till Dead which deals with the slimming trend in Hong Kong. He collaborates with Marco Mak who directs Colour of The Truth to produce this stunning and intriguing murder mystery.
The film stars award-winning actor Anthony Wong Chau Sang, and also Sheren Teng Sui Man who has recently gained her popularity because of the TV drama series War and Beauty. Cherrie Ying plays the role of a beauty consultant and her performance is highly appreciated by Wong Jing.
In Slim Till Dead, film star Ivy disappears right before the "Slimming Queen Contest" and is discovered dead soon after that. Experienced police detective Wong (Anthony Wong) takes over this mysterious case. Two other film stars who have attended the contest also got murdered, when they are starved or carved to weigh exactly 70lbs. With help from his wife (Sheren Teng) who was once a brilliant police detective as well, and also a consultant at a beauty salon (Cherrie Ying), Wong starts to unravel the secret behind the serial killing...

一日德接到一件案件，女星Ivy原應要出席一瘦身皇后選舉，但賽前離奇失蹤，最後發現被殺害。德聯同美國回來的上司William及國內公安田福對此案深入調查，德有感其他出席選舉的女星Queenie，施施及童非既有嫌疑亦有危險，於是一邊保護該等女星，一邊亦從她們身上有線索。其間施施及童非陸續失蹤及遇害，德苦無對策，案件陷入僵局。
玲以一個旁觀者角度反而更能捕捉到神秘人的特點，玲認為該神秘人應該是患有嚴重性格分裂，德不能以正規思路去追查神秘人，玲更大膽接近神秘人以引證自己的想法，當玲發現自己的想法是對，神秘人其實就是……
Police officer Wong is trying to catch a serial killer whose female victims are all either starved or carved until they weigh exactly 70lbs. Helping him with leads to the case is Cherrie, a beauty salon employee who is losing her regular customers one by one to the psychopath. Filled with both laughs and gore. SLIM TILL DEAD is not only an intriguing murder mystery, but also a macabre parody on people's obsession with losing weight.

Very Intense Movie

I thought this film was very good. You do not have to physically "see" how the main characters re-act during the investgation. The plot shows that darkness within us are high, the side that is nonverbal. The director did an excellent job describing the nonverbal love through showing the characters personal struggles with themselves and their belifes.I Think there is an invisible longing for one another between wong and the girl. I am sure many of us have faced this and many times shot down our true feelings by convincing ourselves that we do not belong to that other person. |

Great Movie

Excellent film! The story line was very interesting and the main characters acted very well. The ending was sort of predictable but still good. Sheren Tang hasn't acted in a movie in a long time and her performance was impressive. She quickly falls into the character she's playing and makes you want to keep watching the movie. Cherrie Ying's acting has improved drastically. Her facial expressions and eye contacts were very good. And of course, Wong Chau Sung was excellent! He is always such a great actor, I always feel like it's a job well done guaranteed. I highly recomment this movie!! |
