従来のテニスゲームはボールが手元に来たタイミングで、ボタンを押してラケットを振るといったタイミング型でしたが、本作は先行入力型のショットシステムに変更しました。
そのことで初心者でもトッププロのスーパープレーを簡単に楽しむことができるようになりました。
また、戦術の多彩さを強化し、対戦での駆け引きを向上させたシステムへリニューアルしました。

登場する実名選手は16名。男子世界ランキング1位のＲ・フェデラーやそれを追うＲ・ナダル、女子世界ランカーのM・シャラポワやJ・エナンなど実力選手が登場。またライセンス選手の約半数はテニスゲーム初登場となり、トップ・ランカーや将来有望なプレイヤーなどを収録しています。
