This is another excellent movie produced by SB. Ching Li was so stunning, as usual. The story about a rich family with four sons who have their own problems with their life/wife/lover. You will not be disappointed... |

Worth the wait

Missed this when it was shown in the cinema. Have been waiting eagerly for this release. Well worth it. It is one of best. The story is beautifully told. The whole movie was wonderfully blended, especially with such a big cast and so many little themes. I prefer the cantonese version - it suit this saga better. Definitely one for the top shelves of my library. |

Well Worth the wait

I missed this show when it was shown back then and have been eagerly waiting for its release. I was not diasppointed. Beautifully shot and masterfully directed. Definitely one of the best among my library. |

A masterpiece of Chu Yuan's
|
This is my most eagerly awaited film of Shaw's 70s film to be watched agin; and I consider this the best of Chu Yuan's although his swordplay films are more popular. Never have I seen a drama story is so many interesting characters and successful as both a tearjerker as well as a comedy. Moreover, you will not get Ching Li, the beautiful Wang Ping(who later played her award-winning Golden Lotus role in her last film) and Li Ching in the same movie. The supporting cast with some other TVB actress are all great. A must keep !! |

A Classic Tearjerker

This is an excellent movie featuring excellent performances from many top stars.From the fairer sex, there is Li Ching, Ching Li and Wang Ping. Movie Queen Li Ching is always effective in her portrayal but here Ching Li threatens to overshadow her with her touching and subtle portrayal of a dying girl who is loved by the married Ling Yun. On the male side, we have Ling Yun, Tsung Hua and Yueh Hua. All are good in their respective roles and it is hard to pick a stand-out performance. In retrospect, it is very much an ensemble piece. I highly recommend this touching movie but do keep the tissues nearby. A friend of mine cried buckets over it! |
