A space opera from Wu Bai & China Blue?! The Taiwanese rock chameleon who can jump effortlessly between mainstream and avant-garde will never stop surprising us, and this original sci-fi concept album (Wu Bai's tenth) is what we are presented with after a two-year break. There is a background story that strings all the album tracks together: In the year 2406, human beings send a vessel called Tai Kong Dan ("Space Bomb") on an epic voyage across the universe, looking for a new Earth for mass migration. Humans by then have evolved into androgynous beings, carrying XYZ-chromosomes. Relating the ambitious story, the songs revolve around two axes, the limited time of the present and the limitless space of the future, outlining the nature of humanity and our innate desire for the true, the good, and the beautiful.

新專輯《太空彈》的故事發生時間設定在距今數百年後的2406年，從一艘名為「太空彈」號艦艇的星際太空航程開始。這艘載滿染色體為XYZ的中性新人類與先進科技設備的艦艇，身負人類生存的重要使命，目的就是為了尋找下一個可資移民的新地球。伍佰在一個看似龐雜巨大的科幻主題下，聰明且浪漫地，找到一個包容音樂的方法。他把時間的軸心設定在＜2008的現在＞與＜2406的未來＞之間迴旋往返。一方面避開了聽眾對於未知的星際可能帶來的疏離感，另一方面把2008當代的社會萬象，置放於遙遠的2406空間裡，彷彿未來的人類後裔正參觀著數百年前的博物館。伍佰以現在之有限時間與未來之無垠空間兩個軸心，百繪勾勒出現在進行式的人類對真善美與單純的渴望，還有身不由己的慾念與掙扎。無疑地，《太空彈》是伍佰力圖打造的一張華語流行音樂裡的科幻片。
