Bruce Lee is nowhere to be seen, but his legacy is all over 1974's Stoner. Had he lived long enough to make it, the film would surely need no introduction. Originally set to star Lee, one-time James Bond George Lazenby (On Her Majesty's Secret Service), and Japanese action master Sonny Chiba (The Street Fighter), Stoner was designed to be a surefire global blockbuster. Chiba dropped out when Lee unexpectedly died shortly before filming began, but Lazenby was contractually bound to complete the picture. Fortunately the studio gave him the best replacement costar available - Angela Mao (Lady Whirlwind), the "female Bruce Lee" whose high-flying kicks and fierce onscreen presence earned her a deserved cult following in her own right. Also on hand is Betty Ting (Bruce Lee and I), Lee's rumored mistress and familiar 1970s eye candy.

Stoner is, appropriately enough, about a secret agent named Stoner (Lazenby), who comes to Hong Kong to battle - what else? - stoners. Stoner has traced production of a lethal and highly addictive new drug to an underworld crime lord known as "Mr. Sin," and, with a little help from his Chinese counterpart Angela Li (Mao), sets out to infiltrate Mr. Sin's organization and bring it down. A conscious imitation of the popular James Bond series, Stoner's over-the-top 70s camp may appeal more to fans of Austin Powers, but the action is solid, and Mao is undeniably the coolest Bond girl that never was.

The story begins with a special agent Angela Mao investigating the peculiar circumstances of the recent purchase of several ships destined for the breakers' yards of Hong Kong. Steven, a special policeman from America, comes to Hong Kong to investigate the unidentified drug smugglers who are responsible for his girlfriend's death. Mr. Sinn, the powerful man of the Asian mafia, orders his men to destroy Steven at any cost. Meanwhile, Angela successfully reaches the island of Sinn and the shrine of the Ultimate Bliss, the headquarters of the largest drug smuggling operation in Asia. Posing as a hawker, she continues to gather evidence to put Sinn's gang behind bars. As Steven closes in on Sinn's operation, he crosses paths with Angela. Unfortunately, they are both caught by Sinn. They're thrown into a small cage and forced to take drugs. Can they run away? Will Sinn's gang be put behind bars?
