YesAsia Editorial Description
The late James Wong (1940-2004) was one of the few all-rounders in Hong Kong's entertainment business: a lyricist, newspaper columnist, composer, movie director, actor, etc. In films like Wild Goose Chase and Stooges in Hong Kong, his image as a flirtatious man perfectly matches his extremely popular books on adult-oriented jokes. He portrays the host of an adult TV program in Stooges in Hong Kong, a role pretty much tailor-made for him. His adult jokes receive huge popularity, but instead of his own creation, they are actually ghost-written by Leung (Tommy Wong). Sexy actress Amy Yip plays James' wife, who often deduct Leung's remuneration, making Leung so discontented that he decides to join James' rival TV station... Also starring Mimi Chu and Wan Kwong, famous for their hilarious though not-so-refined songs, director Otto Chan's Stooges in Hong Kong offers wonderful entertainment to adults and marks the popularity of Hong Kong's adult comedies in the early 1990s.

Director: Otto Chan
James (James Wong), claimed himself as the master of obscenity, is a uncouth/coarse/dirty joke show host. However, the scripts of his shows are actually written by Kwong (Wommy Wong). Since Kwong has been unsatisfied with the money given by James' wife (Amy Yip) for the script writing, he finally goes to another television station to run a similar show with the Temple Street singer Wan (Wan Kwong).
James' show becomes less attractive since Kwong leaves. He invites Wan's wife (Mimi Chu) to perform the show in order to compete with Kwong's show. However, James' competitor also invites hi wife to fight back. Kwong leaves and meets James, who is fired, and they decide to perform the show at Temple Street. When wan sees James and Kwong performing at Temple Street, they start a fight and are surrounded by a crowd. At this moment, Kwong suggests that three of them should run a joke concert together. Eventually, the show has a great vogue.
