Another winner! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
You really can't go wrong with Onitsuka Chihiro. This is another great album. Unfortunately, this album has only 9 tracks. And Not Your God is entirely in English (she must stop with that!). But the other songs make up for it. Tiger in my Love is an incredible rockish song. Castle Imitation pretty, relaxed yet passionate. Borderline is a powerful ballad. All the songs are very good.

Really Nice... Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
Again, I gave a CD by this artist a 9 out of 10 because of the one song entirely in English. As I mentioned before...I buy Japanese to hear Japanese. Anyway, her voice is superb as always and she's so well-trained with it. I actually wish she had more up-tempo songs, but overall, the CD is really great. I'm glad to have found her. Oh, and I wish YesAsia hadn't sent my CD to me in a destroyed case. The cover came so cracked up it fell apart when I tried to open it. But...once I got into it (putting back together again was tricky, and the cover looks awful) it was worth the effort to hear this singer's voice and songs.

Sugar! Oh, honey honey Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
First off - yes, Virginia, I'm a huge fan. So there's a bit of bias for you there.

Second off - even if i wasn't, I'd still love her to death. She's jsut too damn loveable.

Third off- okay, yes, right.. .album review, indeed. Okay, I'm a bit biased again here - see, i LOVED Tjis Armor. Severely. And if the newest singles are any indication of what's to come, I'll probably have an eargasm over her next album.

So in my ears/eyes, Sugar High... well, it measures up. Greatly. Just I'm still having an audial love affair with This Armor.

Right, then - you might wanna prepare yourself for a surprise, folks, once Tiger in my Love comes on - otherwise that pounding, smokey piano trio is gonna knock you over. Hell - think of it as sort of traditional Chihiro meets rock. (Just not the acoustic/electric rock of Beautiful Fighter/Arashi ga Oka) Listen for a particularly chilling, wailing note late into the song... and for her frantic delivery.

King of Solitude. Depressing, right? Maybe - but surprisingly Christmas-y, too. (Well, maybe not, considering Chihiro was envisioning New York, 10 PM, Christmastime when she wrote this) - beautiful, soft piano melody... strings, woodwinds, sweet and cozy. In short, a highlight.

Chihiro now wants you to know she's NOT YOUR GBOD (and no, she's not your hero, angel, Messiah, or twinkle princess either) - as she drones through the piano-laden song (NOT YOUR GOD) entirely in English, in a depressing monotone. Ominous? Maybe. Good? Damn straight.

Now we're going into a true gem- Hyoryuu no hane, aka A drifting feather. Rolling, sad piano, gorgeous cello, Chihiro - even if you don't know the translation, it's going to be hard not to be moved by it.

BORDERLINE's another huge stunner on here - increasingly intense as the song goes on with the determine piano, determined voice of Chihiro, everything building up into a soul-stirring finish... speechless, that's the after-effect of the song. Folks, you'll. Be. Speechless.

castle.imitation, you might recognize if you own the soundtrack to Breath of Fire V - Dragon Quarter. Only, instead of the grand, sweeping, orchestral feeling of the game version (which, incidentally, introduced me to this stunning young woman's music) you get a more toned-down, heartfelt ballad. Yes, kids, there's piano present here as well. Isn't there always? As a bonus, the instrumental (of the game version) and game version itself are also included on here.

Suna no tate (shield of sand) is just... wow. Forget BORDERLINE, she's really got it here - sweeping, stormy, despairing, still... well, perfect. Okay, screw this, I can't do the song justice.

Well... okay, so I'm a bit laz on this review, but at least hopefully this'll help you along a bit.

Similar artists (at least that I can think of) - Sarah McLachlan, Vanessa Carlton (...sorta), Dido, Norah Jones, Loreena McKennitt
