Sung Si Kyung joins the list of stars releasing a new album before enlisting for mandatory military service. Hailed as the "King of Ballad" since his debut in 2000, Sung has maintained solid popularity with a string of hits like Miso chonsa ("Smiling Angel"), Neon Kamdongi eosseo ("You Touched My Heart"), GeoriESeo ("On The Street"), and Han bun deo yi byeol ("Another Goodbye"). While touring across the country over the past year, Sung immersed himself in deep introspection, searching for the identity of a true musician. Now, carrying a new sense of maturity and appreciation for his music and his fans, the singer releases his much-awaited sixth album Here In My Heart.
Written in collaboration with Yoo Hee Yeol (a.k.a. Toy), the principal track An nyeong na euh sarang ("Goodbye, My Love" - Track 4) bears sadness beneath the upbeat melody. As if making his personal farewell, the song rolls out heartfelt lyrics like "this could be my last gift to you" and "it'll be okay, goodbye my love". In addition, the titular song Here In My Heart (Track 1) is a modern folk ballad written by Yoo. Besides Sung's own creative contribution, many noteworthy talents also participated in the making, namely, Kim Hyun Cheol, Kim Kwang Jin, Noh Young Shim, Hwang Sae Joon, and Lee Seong Hwan. Other highlights include pop ballad Noon bu shin go baek ("Luminous Confession" - Track 8) and pop oldie Geu dae wah choom eul ("Dance With You" - Track 6).

지난 6월 중순, 성시경은 군 입대를 앞둔 시점에서 정규 6집 [여기 내 맘속에]를 발표했다. 유희열, 김현철, 김광진, 노영심, 정재형, 정지찬 등 이시대 최고의 싱어송라이터들과 함께한 앨범은, 그 어느 때보다도 솔직하고 진솔한 작품으로 거듭났다. 유희열과 공동 작곡한 타이틀곡 <안녕 나의 사랑>은 기존 발라드 넘버들을 뛰어넘는 참신한 시도였고, 노영심의 <당신은 참..>은 소박하면서도 담백한 노랫말로 감동을 주었다. 여기에, 자신이 직접 송라이팅에 참여한 <여기 내 맘속에>, <잃어버린 것들>, <사랑하는 일> 등으로 이전 앨범에 비해 ‘프로듀서 성시경’으로서의 색채를 내는 데 혼신을 다했다. 발라드 가수 ‘성발라’를 뛰어넘어, 진정한 싱어송라이터이자 프로듀서로서의 성장과 변화를 일깨워준 작품이었다.
하지만, 성시경은 지난 7월 1일 군 입대로 인해, 앞으로 2년간 자신의 음악을 발표하지 못한다. 이런 아쉬움을 조금이나마 달래고자, 성시경 6집 앨범의 스페셜 에디션이 발매된다. 이번 앨범은 6집의 리패키지 형식을 띠고 있지만, CD 외에 DVD와 공연 화보집이 특별부록으로 포함되어 소장 가치를 높였다. 특히, DVD엔 성시경이 군 입대 전 가졌던 마지막 콘서트인 <시경이가 들려주는 마지막 이야기> 스케치와 함께, <안녕 나의 사랑>, <넌 감동이었어>, <내게 오는 길> 등 히트곡들의 라이브 영상이 담겨있고, 콘서트를 통해 선보였던 인간 성시경의 솔직하고 담백한 이야기들이 수록된다. 또한 64P.에 이르는 콘서트 화보집은 감동적이었던 마지막 콘서트의 순간순간을 되살렸다.
이번 스페셜 에디션에는 지난 히트 싱글 <한번 더 이별>, <아는 여자>와 함께, 프로듀서 김형석과 재회한 신곡 <계절이 돌아오듯이>가 실려 눈길을 끈다. 성시경의 ‘팬들을 위한 작별 노래 2’가 될 <계절이 돌아오듯이>는 “그땐 내가 더 사랑할 테니 / 운명이 우리를 다시 허락할 그날까지만 안녕 / 꼭 기억해줘요 그날까지만 안녕” 이라는 노랫말을 담았다. 데뷔 시절을 함께 했던 김형석과의 재회를 통해, 그가 지난 10년의 음악활동을 이 한 곡에 집약했다고 해도 과언은 아니다. 또한 라이브 음원 <내게 오는 길>과 <좋을텐데>를 비롯, 콘서트의 피날레였던 <서른 즈음에>가 이번 스페셜 에디션에서도 대미를 장식한다.

One of Sung Si Kyung's Best CDs!
| This is one of my favorite Sung Si Kyung's CDs. He is at his best vocally and the melodies of the tracks are very good, better than Vol. 5 in my opinion. His vocals hasn't changed that much over the years because he is an excellent singer from the very beginning. I also love his pleasant and gentle demeanor. My computer crashed again recently, so I'm not going to fetch my iTunes file to name my favorite tracks. But just believe me that this CD is one of his best. I wish Sung Si Kyung a safe return from his military service and continuing success in his career! :) |

Pure pop perfection
| When Sung Si Kyung wraps his velvety tenor vocals around these finely crafted ballads, the result is pure bliss. Feeling a little tense? Play this album of mellow musical magic and your cares will melt away. Very, very highly recommended. |

the last cd from korean king of ballad mr sung si kyung is now available and he is for sure one of his best achievment...the songs are mostly oriented for adult audience. the ballads of the last opus are gently composed with elegant and very inspired string arangement. the voice of si kyung is always superb and touching,powerful and delicate. in my opinion some ballads here are among the most romantic songs ever sing by this great artist. a must have of 2008 |
