Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, and the rest are back to battle it out in Atari's Super Dragon Ball Z for the PS2. A 3D fighter, the game focuses on recreating some of the greatest Dragon Ball Z match-ups, and with hundreds of anime episodes to draw on, gamers should expect to see giant battles and lots of great moves. Like most fighter games, Super Dragon Ball Z has a number of different modes. Arcade mode gives players a change to make it to the top of the tournament by battling against seven increasingly difficult enemies, while survival mode just requires players to survive as many rounds as possible. There is also a practice mode for gamers to work on their fighting moves and a multiplayer mode for DBZ fans to challenge each other.

One of the most interesting aspects of Super Dragon Ball Z is that players have the option of creating their own character. They first select one of the 18 playable characters, then customize them. As players battle others with this character, they earn battle points that can be used to gain new abilities or power up existing moves. Players can also collect the seven Dragon Balls by battling through arcade mode, and once they have all seven, they can summon the powerful dragon Shenron and unlock new outfits, new options, and even new characters. With so many great battles and great fighters, Super Dragon Ball Z is definitely a must have from DBZ fans.

A cel-shaded ground and air fighting game in the Dragon Ball Z universe.

Based on the arcade game, this is a fighting game in the Dragon Ball Z universe, developed by Craft and Master (whose team members include former Street Fighter producer Noritaka Funamizu. Super DBZ is a cell-shaded fighter featuring your favorite Dragon Ball characters. Each character has his own special abilities, with Frieza making use of warps and Trunks using swords for up-close attacks. The game uses a four button setup. Two buttons are reserved for strong and weak attacks. One button is used for guarding with another used for making your character jump. The guard and jump button can be pressed together to execute a dash move. Super DBZ features both ground-based and air-based fighting. Stages are multi-layered, and you can move between different areas, taking the fight to an area that's more advantageous to your character.

An all-new DBZ fighting system, with more intense combos that cause more damage than any DBZ game ever created; unique fighting moves and styles for all 18 characters; super-fast combination moves and battle scenes; ability to strategically use the terrain to fight; 3D fighting on the ground and in the air; all new version of mecha frieza to unlock.
