Solid "weepie" melodrama Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
'Susanna' is a solid melodrama directed by Ho Meng Hua('The Flying Guillotine'). Li Ching portrays Lin Shen Shen/Susanna; she's a spoiled, selfish, condescending schoolgirl. She even seduces the boyfriend of her sister, Lin Xiao Ting(Alison Chang Yen). However, after a painful series of seizures, Susanna finds out that she has cancer...and only eight months left to live! She makes an oath to herself to "right her wrongs" with every remaining moment of her life. Then again, redeeming herself will be easier said than done.
Of the several Li Ching films that I've seen, this is one of her best. The supporting cast also does a good job. One flaw that I noticed is that Susanna conveniently has a seizure in front of a doctor's office. What are the odds of that? Aside from its flaws and its dated 1960's look, 'Susanna' is a soild film.

The long wait for this movie to be restored is really worth it.I find this movie the BEST restored movie of all Shaw Brothers Movies. It is extremely clear and I cannot find any flaws in it. This should defintely be Li Ching's best movie. The role of Susanna suited her very well and she played the role of a spoilt brat so perfectly. I cannot remember if she was nominated or won the title for best actress for that year but if she did, she really deserved it. This is defintely a must watch movie! It is one of the movies that will tug at your heart strings. Get ready tissue paper.

The best of Li Ching Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10

Of all her movies, Susanna is definitely Li Ching's best. Should have been awarded "best actress" for her role.

This movie is a gem. Only fault is that certian part are not fully restored. But I am not complaining.

Highly recommended. Watch it with a box of tissues.
