Excellent!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I'm not Japanese, but I am a lesbian and must agree with my previous reviewer about the disgust feeling I receive from people's reactions to the music video for this. Kumi handles this subject with class and tries to remind us all no matter whether gay or straight that we shouldn't all just label things as a taboo just cause it seems out of the oridinary or different. This is what really caught me about this single the most. Plus, she did it with a great beat of R&B that's very catchy and addictive. Now, the video is very sexual, it's true, but I think she did a very good job of showing this subject in several ways through both lyrics and the visual sense of things with many aspects. The second song "Always" is quite nice, but not her best ballad. Then the remix of Taboo featured here is even more catchier and addictive then the original mix. Plus, the instrumentals sound great as well. I'm very pleased with this single, and if more artists begun to step up and open up over this subject in such a way, maybe this world might just get a little better. Extremely Reccomended!

ok i am a gay japanese male living in america and i think it is horrible how you guys are reacting to the PV are ou really that homophobic.... I thought if you were a kumi fan you would respect everybody as much as she does. Anyhow this single is brilliant and i am glad Kumi is proud enough that she can making a song about this subject.

great song Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
taboo is a very koda kumi songs. it's upbeat and danceable. her vocals, as usual, are great.
if you're not going to buy this single just because of the pv... then you're totally ridiculous.
and you're not a true fan of kuu. any true fan of kuu knows that the pv screams koda kumi. it's her image, and she carries it off well. no other artist in japan right now can pull off what she does in her pvs.

koda kumi's been around for almost a decade. even though at the beginning she wasn't this provocative, she was never cutesy like otsuka ai, never cool like boa, or never role model-esque like hamasaki ayumi. she was the tough&sexy r&b girl. in that aspect, kuu was almost (and i stress ALMOST) just like namie amuro. but then she (and her production team) realized that they had to make her different so she'll be successful. so that's when she became all ero-kawaii..

she became FAMOUS for being ero-kawaii.

dear heaven...for ppl who are ranting about the pv...have you ever seen the covers to her singles? in "COME WITH ME" she practically has half her boobs hanging out of the scarf she wrapped around her neck. in "BEST~first things~" her boobs are again hanging out.

but no matter what koda kumi does or wear, no matter how provocative she may be, she has a GREAT VOICE. people can say all sorts of things about her, but no one can argue that her singing voice isn't top-notch.

without a doubt, she's one of the top-5 female voices in japan right now.

and this single rocks because it goes on to show just that. :]

Simply Koda Kumi... Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I don't know why everyone is really surprised with the PV. Kuu is THE artist that would do something this flashy. I'm really not surprised (after the BUT single, lol). ^^() I'm not on anyone's side over the issue.

Anyway, outside of the PV, I really love "Taboo" and the dance that goes to it (you see most of the dance at the end of the PV after all the acting parts). The song has an extremely strong techno beat that pulses and keeps you wanting to dance. "Always" is also a very nice ballad-like track that really shows off Kuu's vocals. So, overall, I like the single. I will most likely order this single.

P.S. Does anyone know where they sell the third version (PLAY Version) of this single that just has Taboo on it? I love that cd cover better.

sexy and cool Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I don't like reviewing before i buy it, but i must say something...
TABOO is like... friggin' amazing! I was super disapointed in Moon Crying, and i didn't like Kingodm either, so I was crossing my fingers and praying that this would be awesome.
And it totally is! I got up and started dancing when I first heard this, I dance every time I hear it now lol, so catchy :D

And, please people, don't be hating on Funky Monkey, who makes a great point.
Really people, not even 20 seconds into the PV and she's kissing girls. I was a bit ashamed watching the video... but you know, I can't bring myself to hate Kuu, instead, i love the PV. It's hot! I felt bad when a friend
of mine watched it before me, and she was complaining and "gagging" -_- she didn't even finish watching it. lol

whoa, this isn't a review anymore, sorry for getting off track.

any way, about Always, a nice track. but thats it really, nice. it does remind me of "Dear Family" but it also reminds me of "Lady Go" for some... weird reason, although it's a ballad. Also sounds like Koi no Tsubomi :P Nothing special with it really.
I may submit another eview when i get the single.

cheers

Cool single ! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
''TABOO'' is a very catchy R&B/dance track, who loves songs such ''BUT'' and ''FREAKY'' will like this for sure ! And I like the b-side too, even if it's totally another kind of music, it's a mid-tempo ballad, I find it similar to ''Gentle Words'' or ''Dear Family''.

PV is great! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I saw full PV now and it's great!
I don't agree with Funky Monkey Baby.
This PV connects Kumi's career to older sexy ones like Juicy, but it doesn't go so far like older ones.
PV is dark and fits perfectly to the song and the lyrics.
Dance shots are well choregraphed.

Well, I love it, but there will be certainly people who don't like it because of the "sexy" aspect.
But in my opinion Kumi is brave to show this side we all have.
I still highly recommend this single!

I-It's...AWESOME!!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Okay! Let me just say this:

Judging by Funky Monkey Baby's review, this must be one of those you either love it or you hate it. I, for one, LOVE IT!! Koochan's back to her sexy style! Let's just say that it's called "TABOO" for a reason! It so owns!! The dance moves to the PV are wicked! There are a lot of hand movements and it's a very...well...let's just say that the PV is not modest at all! XD Of course, Koochan always did release PVs like this: wicked sadistic and incredibly dancey. (Is that a word?)

"TABOO" is so much fun and it's so upbeat! The PV is very dark. It's the PV that gives this song its name! It's a great dance number and the song itself is addicting! I have a feeling I'll have listened to this song at least 400+ times before I even get my copy of her CD.

Of course, we can't leave out her b-side "Always." This song is very beautiful. It's cutesy without being too cutesy, you know? It reminds me of a mixture between "Wonderland" and "Koi no Tsubomi." It's adorable! It kinda makes you wish that this song had a PV, too. It's very nice on the ears, if you know what I mean.

Overall, "TABOO" is a GREAT single! Both songs are amazing and they take us back to the "sexy-side" of Koochan! Odds are, you WON'T be disappointed!

Reminiscence of early career Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
First off, this is a GREAT single. Both A-side and B-side are high quality, catchy, and all-around perfect. Kumi sounds beautiful & the video sample is really interesting. The techno/dance sound reminds me a bit of "BUT" and a bit of her first three albums (which I find to be her best). I truly love it and this will possibly be one of my most favorites from her. From what I've seen, the video doesn't seem to be R-rated like "JUICY", "Shake It", "Ima Sugu Hoshii", and "Cherry Girl" - all of which I just hated! It's nice so far! (n_n)

I do think Kumi was smart to tone down the sexuality as she matures & to realize she doesn't have to sell her body to get good fans. Good fans will love you for your personality & music - which is what I love Kuu for. (^_^) I wish her luck with this single! Her next album promises to be INCREDIBLE. With this single + "Moon Crying"...yep yep! Can't wait to preorder it whenever it becomes available!!! Go Kumi Go! hehehe!
