TGUS의 이번 앨범은 보컬 하모니를 중심으로 다양한 장르의 음악을 한국적인 느낌으로 표현 하고 있다. 기본적으로 4성부 하모니 팀이라는 강점을 가진 TGUS는 한 장르에 구애 받지 않고 R&B, Funky, Blues, Ballard, Electronic, 등을 4명의 개개인의 색깔과 화음으로 표현했다. 신인급으로선 이례적으로 SG wanna be 김진호, M to M 손준혁, Wanted 하동균 김재석, As one 이민 크리스탈, soul star 이규훈 등 유명한 아티스트들이 보컬 피처링으로 참여했으며, 휘성은 작사로 참여했고 ‘Christna aguilera‘의 기타세션으로 유명한 ‘Mike "fish" Herrings’ 및 다양한 미국 아티스트들도 참여했다. TGUS는 이번 앨범의 Producer를 직접 맡았으며 Vocal Director 와 작곡 작사 등 전반적인 앨범작업에서 능력을 보여준 실력파 신인 팀이다.
타이틀 곡 I believe in은 TGUS 의 보컬 색깔과 서정적이고 웅장한 멜로디 그리고 영화 ‘old boy’ ost 테마 작곡으로 유명한 이지수의 화려한 string 편곡이 절묘한 조화를 이룬 대곡이다. 또한, 이별의 아픔을 Aqustic 한 느낌으로 풀어낸 곡으로 ‘Christina aguilera‘의 기타세션으로 유명한 ‘Mike "fish" Herrings’ 가 참여한와 sg wanna be 김진호, m to m 손준혁, wanted 하동균 김재석, as one 이민 크리스탈, soul star 이규훈 등이 참여한 <무지개>는 개개인의 보컬 능력과 희망적인 가사내용, 그리고 tgus 의 하모니가 곡의 느낌과 잘 어우러져 미국의 여러 아티스트가 참여한 we are the world를 연상케 하는 곡이기도 하다. 는 마치 팝 음악을 듣는듯한 착각을 불러일으킬 정도의 세련된 그루브가 일색인 funky 곡으로서 휘성의 작사 참여가 눈에 띄는 곡이다. 열 한번째 트랙<눈을감아>는 wanted 의 멤버 김재석의 전형적인 한국적 정서가 일품인 발라드 곡으로서 대중들에게 쉽게 다가가려는 TGUS 의 노력이 엿보이는 곡이다.

TGUS BLEW ME AWAY!
| Being a huge fan of Korean Music, i'm always on the lookout especially for singers and groups that can REALLY SING. Knowing that the Kpop music scene is saturated with too many singers and musicians that are focused more on their looks or should i say face value rather than their talents. Not that its a bad thing cos there are singers who can sing and are good looking too. (Hey, whats there to complain when you can see eye candy right?) Glad to say TGUS which means "The Guys Using Sound" is a group who're very talented and they can really sing very well! You should hear them sing acapella, it totally blew me away! (Theres videos on youtube )I have never regretted buying this album and im happy to include it into my ever growing music cd collection as one of the most talented artists. Forget about face value and age, give talent a chance. |
