廿多年前，永業淡江銀行創辦人蔣承天（關海山）興長子文山（曾江）爭戀何雪梅，梅懷山骨肉，避往馬來西亞。之後，梅子蔣進（萬梓良）長大被叔文傑（朱江）賞識，邀回香港永業工作，及後進得知天、山之恩怨，拒絕再在銀行工作，傑再三挽留，進允留任。
傑全心全意為銀行工，卻遭母錢惠珠任用之外戚百般留難，傑雖有紅顏知己夢舒亭（李美鳳）所助，終亦由心康（劉錫明）接替傑之職務，康女友徐美珍（林穎嫻）恐康蹈傑覆轍，與康分手。
進與亭相處日久，漸生情愫，時葉滿枝（恬妞）由馬來西亞來港投靠梅，與進、亭展開一段三角戀。
經歷連番金融界風波後，進漸得永業之大權，山不忿，與進展開奪產鬥爭，父子不但對薄公堂，山更槍傷進……
註：由於母帶已製作經年，故在製作VCD的過程中，必須進行調色、重新配樂及剪輯等後期工作。但所有後期工作均在有必要的情況下進行，並以不影響劇情為原則。
