Popular Thai comedian Petchtai Wongkamlao takes up the director position again for the follow-up to his successful action-comedy The Bodyguard. Wongkamlao also takes up the roles of writer and star once more for The Bodyguard 2, a prequel to the original film that traces the origins of Wongkamlao's character before the events of the first film. Similar to The Bodyguard, the action-comedy is packed with plenty of star cameos, including one by Wongkamlao's Ong Bak co-star Tony Jaa as an elephant vendor. With exciting wire-fu action that made the first film so successful, the explosive action comedy was the most expensive film ever made in Thailand at the time.

The Bodyguard 2 follows the days of hero Wong Kom (Petchtai Wongkamlao) as an anti-terrorist agent in the fictional nation of Wongleinaum. One day, he's sent on an undercover mission in neighboring Thailand to uncover a group of terrorists who uses a record company as a cover for their weapons operation. The mission complicates when Wong Kom discovers that he's not the only undercover agent in the company.

Kum Lhau, a veteran secret agent of Republic of Vieng, is assigned to investigate dangerous terrorists in Thailand. He lies to his wife that he will be working as a labor in Thailand - of course, he never told his wife about his real and honorable job. Kum Lhau disguises himself into a popular singer of a big record to track the terrorists. Meanwhile, he meets Paula, a pretty agent who's tracking the same target. Then, they team up to stop the terrorists before a big explosion will happen in town.
