The Boss 1st Mini Album - Awake

YesAsia Editorial Description

Their official overseas name is The Boss (The Boys of Super Space), but K-pop fans know the rookie boy band better by their Korean name Dae Guk Nam Ah, or D-NA. Just like their group name, the five members of D-NA also have multiple pseudonyms floating around as they are all former members of Xing Opera. White, Rising, Kipalang, Soul, and Husky of 4th Generation Xing have started afresh as Mika, Karam, Jay, In Jun, and Hyun Min of Dae Guk Nam Ah. The group made a splash earlier this year with the digital debut single "The Admirer", and now they're releasing their first mini-album Awake. D-NA's new title song "Stumbling, Stumbling" is a catchy electro-pop number by Ahn Young Min, who composed the group's previous "The Admirer" and "Bright New World", both of which are also included in this mini-album.

I really want this ! T_T Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Omg. When I listen to this album I feel allright. This is the most incredible single of DaeGukNamAh, and I really want to buy it, but I can't found it anywhere, and in France, is it just impossible... They just have their second korean single "Lady" and they will have "Love Letters" but there are no question about "Awake". This album is so incrdible, that's to sad... Maybre can you have new one day ? Or, can I buy it on an other website ?
Thanks.

Stunning!!!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
The Boss are the new kids on the K Pop block and with so many talented K pop boy bands already out there you have to think what possibly could a new band have to offer the k pop world! Well The Boss in their first mini album are keen to show us all that they are prepared to not only make a incredible début but perhaps even take the former crown that DBSK (weep) have left behind!!!

From their first track that repeats ‘I’m winner’ over a fanfare of trumpets and heavy drums I was hooked!!! Other key tracks include ‘Pi tol’ (think that’s right) which is an infectious pumping track that combines gentle emotional vocals with a shouted fighting chorus. New Boyz is their club offering, a track worthy to be any decent dancefloor’s main anthem! The One is a rap heavy song coupled with some occasional beautifully light and sensitive vocals.

As for the last two tracks ….. I swear if you played them and told me it was DBSK’s new single I wouldn’t doubt it at all. These tracks both remind me of DBSK’s early ballads and although I am not familiar with the member’s names yet one of them sounds so much like Hero and another like Mickey that it is scary. The harmonisation is perfect, the emotion spot on, everything reaches that standard that I have come to expect of DBSK. Considering that The Boss are this good and they have just debuted I expect major things from these boys and I wish them every success!!!

Not bad for start Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
DNA first caught my attention because of their strong resemblance to DBSK, but as started paying more attention to them, I realized there was no need for comparing because these boys can stand on their own well enough.
I ordered their mini album as soon as they released it and I finally got it today! The album case is quite big, but most of the kpop cd's nowdays are. A booklet is attached to one side of the cd case. The quality of the paper is real nice, but the pictures are kind of weirdly arranged so that there is always something obstructing the view - whether the spine of the booklet, song lyrics or some random color splashes.
Packaging aside, let's talk about music.
I like their debut single the best - Tokyo boy aka Admiring boy. It is strongly reminiscent of the 2002-2004 era of kpop - lots of harmonization, calming music, sweet melody, predictable but absolutely adorable lyrics about first love and a beautiful girl. :) Tokyo boy stole my heart on the first listening. I also like track 6, Bright new world. Same as Tokyo boy - old kpop school feel.
Those two I would rate 10/10. The intro song is really cool - weird English aside I like it. It's got beat, it's got spirit. So, also 10/10 for the "winner, winner song~".
Stumble, stumble is pretty good. Above average definitely - 8/10.
3rd song is just so-so. Not something that I would bother skipping while listening to the cd, but not something I'd put on repeat either. 5/10.
New boyz is okay. Rap parts are the best, the chorus is kind of boring. 6.5/10
The one is pretty good. I would rate it higher cause the chorus is catchy, but I feel it lacks that crucial "something", so 7/10.
Overall, I would rate this cd 8/10. I recommend buying this, especially if you're a fan. Then, it's a must have, of course! But even non-fans will like it.
