　　書生方紅葉 (劉兆銘飾) 以撰寫武林逸事為生，耳聞江湖上有蝴蝶殺人的奇事，為追查真相，來到事發地點沈家堡。沈家堡主沈青 (張國柱飾) 邀各武林高手到沈家堡破蝴蝶殺人之謎。眾人抵達不久，沈青卻突然被蝴蝶所殺，及後相繼有人遇害不幸。幾經追查下，方紅葉發現蝴蝶殺人只是騙局，沈青藉蝴蝶殺人之謎把眾人引來，要他們互相殘殺，以圖獨霸武林。最後各路英雄陣亡，只有方紅葉一人逃出沈家堡。此片無論於題材及武打動作上均極其創新，打破了一貫武俠片形式，展示出一個奇詭陰森的古代世界，意象豐富強烈。

　　Fong is a writer who records all kinds of marital arts events. As he heard that there are victims killed butterfly, induced by his curiosity, he heads for Shum castle where he believes helding the key to the secret of these fatal attacks. However, master of the castle Shum Ching and other guests invited also become the victims of the butterfly during the investigation. It turns out that is the conspiracy of Shen Cing, who wants to kills all the leaders and become the King of the martial art world… This is Tsui’s directory debut, which becomes a breaking example of romanticized swordplay with the most fantasizing imagery and story in the late 70’s.
