The story of Emperor Kangxi and Ao-bai has been told in numerous films and TV series. The TVB version now enacts the historical legend again with handsome singer Julian Cheung Chi-lam as young Emperor Kangxi, and veteran actor Lam Ka-wah who seldom appears on TV recently to portray Kangxi's ambitious teacher Ao-bai. Sweet girl Noel Leung stars as two twin sisters in the film whom the young emperor falls for.
Emperor Kangxi has been assisted by his teacher Ao-bai since he came to throne at the age of eight. Now Kangxi finds that Ao-bai's rising power is threatening his rule. Other the other hand, failing to marry his beloved princess, Kangxi turns to her twin sister but she also gets killed by Ao-bai. Struggle for power and for love seem so uneasy for this young emperor...

Pretty good
| Overall, story wise it was pretty good, I really enjoyed this movie. Lam Ka Wah is pretty most of the time that its hard to see him as a mean evil person. Julian and Noel had really good chemistry. Although some parts of the movie was really sad, the overall movie was very good and enjoyable. |
