Real-life couple Chen Hou and Lok Dai star in The Dancing Millionairess, a charming musical production from Shaw Brothers studios! Chen Hou is a chauffeur who gets caught in a mistaken identity scandal linking him to businesswoman Lok Dai. Chen was supposed to audition for a job as her chauffeur, but a proposed musical show is far more attractive to the aspiring dancer. When a rumor gets out that the two are involved in an affair, she's angry and confronts him, but his charms overwhelm her, and it's revealed that she too desires to dance. Soon she's bankrolling the affair, the sets are being built, and the singing and dancing begin! Filmed in glorious Shawscope with lush, gorgeous color photography, The Dancing Millionairess is similar to many musicals from Hollywood's golden age, in that it possesses an airy, screwball comedy plot full of misdirection and mistaken identities. But nothing matters compared to the sumptuous musical numbers, which are among the best seen in a Shaw Brothers production!

One of the most joyous musicals to ever grace the Hong Kong screen, it is also one of the few films to co-star the husband-wife team of Peter Chen Ho and Betty Loh Ti. The story is convoluted in the best Hollywood tradition, but it hardly matters when they perform some of the most sumptuous Eastmancolor Shawscope production numbers in Hong Kong movie history. And watch for future super director King Hu in a comic part!

Loh and Chen should buy!
| For the first 50 minutes of this movie, Loh Ti and Chen Ho never appear on screen together. Up to that point, the movie is mildly amusing, but it doesn't really catch fire until the two stars finally meet. Indeed, in this entire 149 minute movie, Loh Ti and Chen Ho are seen together for no more than 30 minutes. Those thirty minutes are by far the best scenes of the movie. The story is diverting, the music is terrific in a "groovy" 60s way, and the long dance sequences are something to see, if a bit bizarre. I particularly enjoyed the beautiful young actress who played Loh Ti's secretary. Recommended, but primarily for fans of Loh and Chen. |

Lok Dai is so pretty !
| Lok Dai was known as a classical beauty, she is as pretty in this mordern background movie. Two big thumbs up for Lok Dai and Chen Hou's performance. |

| This movie is Hilarious. Especially watching the real life couple Lok Dai and Chen Hou acting together is so pleasant. There is a scene of Lok Dai and Chen Hou dancing and you can see the chemistry between them. You should see it !! |
