In Hong Kong, TVB drama The Edge of Righteousness unfolds the story of another uncommon medical doctor whose story might be more incredible! The 1993 drama stars veteran Alex Man, in a role similar to Black Jack, and the talented comedian Dicky Cheung, alongside popular actresses Jessica Hsuen, Athena Chu, and Monica Chan.

Alex Man is Fung, a genius in brain surgery who dares to break rules and regulations to save the lives of his patients. His girlfriend (Jessica Hsuen) always worries that his personality will bring him trouble. While treating an eight-year-old boy, Fung loses his physician license for using a banned drug. The little boy's young uncle Choi (Dicky Cheung) becomes Fung's best friend after this incident, and refers him to work for a pharmaceutical company. However, this gets Fung involved in a murder case that happened twenty years ago, pushing him to a point of no return!

雷文鳳(萬梓良)是一位優秀的腦科醫生，為人執著認真，有時為求目的不按常規辦事，因此與家人關係惡劣，雷的同居女友葉敏(宣萱)一向對他的狂妄行徑感到憂慮，因此兩人常有爭執。

八歲的吳小東(鄭柏林)因腦癌隨舅舅陸亞彩(張衛健)往美國就醫。期間，吳寫給聖誕老人的信，輾轉落入雷手中。雷不但為吳實現願望，更不顧院規替吳動手術，令醫生資格被取消，輾轉回到香港發展，幸得陸收留，並介紹他到鄭氏藥廠工作。雷無意間發現二十年前的灶底藏屍案與藥廠老闆鄭登(鄭則仕)有關。為揭發此事，他掀起了一場大風暴……

LUI MAN FUNG (MAN TSE LEUNG) is a top neurological surgeon, a very earnest and resolute type who will try to achieve his goals by hook or by crook. Because of his character defects, he has been on bad terms with his family. Even his girlfriend YIP MAN (HSUAN JESSICA HESTER) is worried about his raging temper. The relationship between the pair therefore involves frequent quarrels and arguments.

Eight-year-old NG SIU TUNG (CHENG PAK LAM) has been suffering from brain cancer. Wishing for a medical cure, he follows his uncle LUK AH CHOI (CHEUNG WAI KIN) to the United States to seek consultation treatment. By chance LIU comes across NG's letter to Santa Claus. He feels for the child and offers to help him realize LUI decides to operate on NG regardless of the hospital's policies and procedures, for which he is disqualified from practicing as a doctor. LUI returns to Hong Kong and is put up at LUK's home. On LUK's recommendation, he gets a job with Chang's Pharmacy Company, which leads him to a shocking discovery later on. LUI suspects that the owner of the pharmacy CHANG TANG (CHENG JUT SI) may have something to do with a murder that happened ten years ago. To find out the truth, he has set off a wave of disturbances.....
