In the past few years, Hong Kong horror film genre has been dominated by Troublesome Night and The Ring. Most of the horror films are either a complete replica or slight modification of these films. Generally, they follow the same format: Two to three short stories with the emphasis of a retaliation plot, and the cinematic device derives mainly from the highly successful Japanese horror film the Ring. Can the emergence of the Pang Brothers' The Eye break these cliches? Reviewed by: Kantorates - Cinespot.com |

| This horror movie is probably one of the scariest movie i've ever seen. I really like cause it has scary scenes through out the whole movie. It's not one of the movies where it's only scary at the end or the beginning. It also has a really good story line to it too. I've seen a lot of horror movies and this is still my number 1. |

I finally decided to watch this after hearing there would be a Hollywood remake starring Jessica Alba (which is good too!). Any sort of Chinese language is Greek to me, (Japanese is my language) and for some reason it made it that bit more interesting. This is the first non-Japanese horror I've ever watched and I was blown away. Of course, those who know Asian horror will be aware that little cultural things will make it that bit more scarier, like Ringu for example. I enjoyed the film, but it didn't scare me at all. However, my native Japanese friends have told me that they couldn't even watch it at some parts. I will admit to being a bit wary that I wouldn't be as scared because I didn't know the cultural folk stories that some towns and races have been raised with. Alas, this film freaked me out to the core. Even the opening credits, with the hands scratching and grabbing the white sheet was spine tingling. The plot itself is actually quite a sad story but nonetheless scary! Very scary! Alot of parts are "blink-and-you'll-miss-it", but these are what make The Eye special. Its like "Was I supposed to see that?! Is that actually THERE?!" This film is very good. Directing, actors and story. For some top class Asian horror, I recommend The Eye. |

| one of my favourite movies great performances and effects. The subtitles are perfect, as is the picture and audio. I have seen the whole trilogy and this is by far the best, if you like this one then skip the others. |

This show was one of the blockbuster here in my country when it first came out.I have to say i was very impressed with Angelica Lee and am proud that she won award in her role here and to be representing our country is another achievement. Quite a scary show and i will never forget when she was in the lift scene.Pretty scary when it's you alone riding in the lift at night.Would reccommend people to buy this first one instead of The Eye 2. |
