Francois Truffaut, one of the most widely acclaimed directors in the history of cinema, is also the most famous of the French New Wave directors. "Jules and Jim" has also made him one of the most loved directors of his generation. The film was widely successful in Europe and the US, because it defines "Romance" in the French way. With the charismatic Jeanne Moreau as the female lead, the film shines like a diamond.
Apart from "Jules and Jim", "Two English Girls" is another Truffaut film which is also based on Henri-Pierre Roche's book. Together with "Soft Skin" and the much neglected "Such A Gorgeous Kid Like Me", this Boxset is a good way of entering the romantic mind of Francois Truffaut.
