The titular curse expands along with the franchise in the sequel to The Grudge, which itself was a remake of the Japanese original for American audiences. The story picks up right where the last one ended, with Karen (Sarah Michelle Gellar, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) in the hospital, the only survivor of an ill-fated encounter with a cursed house. She has not emerged unscathed, however, and it's up to her estranged sister, Aubrey (Amber Tamblyn, Joan of Arcardia), to figure out the mystery behind the strange-goings-on related to the now half-demolished house. In doing so, she teams up with a journalist named Eason (Hong Kong star Edison Chen), who has been following the case from the very beginning, and the pair embarks on a trip to the decidedly creepy Japanese countryside, hoping to visit the mother of one of the house's original inhabitants.

Meanwhile, three teenage girls who attend a local international high school are haunted with nightmarish encounters which begin after they venture inside the house to pull a mean prank on the new girl. When one of the girls returns home to Chicago, the curse spreads to her apartment building, where members of a family that have recently acquired an unexpected new stepmother (Jennifer Beals, Flashdance) violently turn on one another. Symptoms of the curse begin to turn up everywhere, while a horrified Aubrey learns that there is no way to stop it from spreading. The high production values and well-executed special effects ensure a highly satisfying experience for discerning viewers out for a thrill.

Not bad... Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
Don't think we canv compare this with the Ju On version as it is a different story and also it needs to be made to suit western audiences. I feel this one was frightening at some points, but not as much as the Grudge one as your use to it. This movie was good in how you find out more about the story as they investigate on it. But if you want gory horror then this is not for you. I think they have changed directors for the next one so it will be different again.

not like Ju-On 2 Customer Review Rated Bad 4 - 4 out of 10
I promise I'm not a baist person when it comes to Japanese versions of American movies...it's just this one really reeked in comparison to its predecessor and to Ju-On 2. I was scared only once and believe me, I'm a real scaredy cat when it comes to horrors...but this one almost made me go to sleep. I was greatly disappointed because I love The Grudge series and had high expectations for this one...but I was just still left at the end like ".......that's it?????" O.o i feel kinda bad I ordered it before watching. Now I'm stuck with it! =/

I hope the 3'rd one will be better! >_<
