Lam Kwok Cheung served as cinematographer for over 70 films from the 1950s to 1970s, including Shaw Brothers classics like The Lady Hermit, The Jade Raksha, and The Monkey Goes West series, before giving the director's chair a shot in the late 70s. His handful of directorial efforts include Mr. Big (1978), Prohibited Area (1981), and the fabulously titled 1979 crime thriller The Hellfire Angel. Starring Ma Man Yee and Wong Yuen Sun, this gun-blazing actioner comes complete with honorable outlaws, backstabbing robbers, and the titular "girl with gun" Hellfire Angel, a timid young woman emboldened by vengeance and loyalty.

Robbers Ling, Hung, Lo, and Tam head to a hostess club to celebrate after a big hit, and find themselves surrounded by police. Lo and Tam get apprehended, but Ling and Hung manage to escape. Jumping at the opportunity to keep all the money for himself, the wily Ling enlists the help of club girl Ching and eventually locates Lo's illegal immigrant sister San who has been forced into prostitution. After getting rescued by Ling, San visits her brother in prison and learns the whereabouts of the loot. When she leaves, Hung is waiting for her outside...

Ching Sze is a dancing hostess in a cabaret but she has a sense of honour and justice. One night, four diamond robbers come to her cabaret and are ambushed by police. She helps one of them, Ling, to escape. Sze now helps Ling in his attempt to find San, Lo's sister, one of the robbers. Lo tells San where he hides the diamonds. Sze, Ling and San then go there but are attacked by another group of gangsters......
