Acclaimed international director Stanley Kwan (Lan Yu) brings us The Island Tales, a film that explores what could the last remaining days on earth for a group of disparate individuals. Gorgeous Michelle Reis stars as Sharon, a Chinese-American banker who faces her mortality when the government quarantines the island that she's staying on due to a possible viral outbreak. Joining Sharon on the island are her friend Marianne (Kaori Momoi of Bounce Ko Gals), happy-go-lucky Taiwanese girl Mei Ling (Shu Qi), Japanese writer Haruki (Takao Osawa), Chinese bartender May (Elaine Jin), gay innkeeper Bo (martial arts star Gordon Lau Ka Fai), and finally media celebrity Han (Julian Cheung). These individuals come from different walks of life and may not appear to have much in common, but their quarantine reveals shared feelings of loneliness and despair. The Island Tales is an unusual, incisive drama that takes a cross-section of Asian peoples and finds universal truth beneath their wildly divergent exteriors.

　　Haruki(Takao Osawa) is a Japanese journalist. Sharon (Michelle Reis), the American Chinese highflying banker, together with her friend, Marianne (Kaori Momoi). Mei Ling (Shiu Qi), a lively young woman. And there is Han (Julian Cheung), he is an idol. --These persons arrive at the island separately. As evening descends, they are all confronted by a very unpleasant surprise: the government has ordered the island to be quarantined with immediate effect. Stuck on the island with nowhere to go, nothing to do, these persons begin to find that things seldom develop as imagines. One of them dies. And this is only the beginning of the night.

I like shu qi, and let me just say that I don't understand how ANYONE can even like this movie. It tried too hard to be meaningful, and for god sake's at least have a better ENglish script!!!! GEEZUS! it was tryign to hard to be a good movie, see it for your self if you don't believe me, it drags. The ONLY good thing is the actor's jobs, everything else sucks, = don't watch it.
