2008 drama The Last Princess is a star-studded period series from the creators of The Legend of Chu Liu Xiang and The Prince of Han. Yu Zheng, the famous screenwriter of Concubines of Qing Emperor, builds the drama around up-and-coming actress Huo Siyan (My Name is Fame) in the role of the last princess of Qing Dynasty, who suffers numerous setbacks throughout her life. The top-rated tearjerker tells the story of hapless Princess Yunxiang (Huo Siyan), who is born during the final years of the Manchurian reign. The night she makes up her mind to elope with her trouper lover Wen Liangyu (Sammul Chan), they are separated in the mob. Yunxiang is saved by her family's enemy Fang Tianyu (Yan Kuan), whose love for Yunxiang drives him to murder. Thinking that Liangyu is dead after being thrown into the river, Yunxiang attempts to kill Tianyu but fails, ending up on the death row herself. Fortunately, Yunxiang's admirer, tycoon Chen Shihao (Suen Hing) comes to her rescue, and to return his favor, she accepts his proposal to be his second wife, even though she is already pregnant with Liangyu's child. Eighteen years later, Liangyu re-emerges as the biggest gang leader in Beijing, while Yunxiang's son has grown up to be a police constable - the tragedy of fate propagates to the next generation...

清朝末年，裕王府的雲香格格(霍思燕 飾)和戲子溫良玉(陳鍵鋒 飾)相愛，二人私奔那晚正好隆裕太后宣佈退位共和，因而被亂民沖散。雲香為王府的仇人方天宇(嚴寬 飾)所救，良玉則流落街頭。
　　二人九死一生，再重逢卻因為天宇對雲香的愛而幾次分離。雲香為了照顧發瘋的母親而墮落，良玉放棄好不容易得來的工作一直相隨，最後把雲香拉出泥沼，沒想到那一晚，天宇居然製造了一場陰謀，將良玉扔入河中。
