Awesome Combo
Awesome Combo
|
These two are an amazing combination. You stick a tough-looking rap duo with a cute JPop singer and you get a kick-butt result. BoA's voice is cute and preppy as usual, and her English is really improving; M-flo's little "yeah"'s "ha"'s and rap segments are strong highlights. Not only is the song an amazing hit, but the video is really entertaining. They switch between different cell-shaded worlds, race in slick cars, play a game of chess (with BoA as the queen and Verbal as the king - awww), and dance in an elevator. ^_^ BoA and M-flo should work with each other much more in the future - they're a great match both musically and romantically. ^^ Make sure you check this out! ~ Satokasu Suki |

Correction... and flight music. =D
|
It's not a full-blown remix of Rappers' Delight... that would give readers the wrong impression if they were to expect that. Rather, the song samples the intro of Rappers' Delight, loops it throughout the song, and uses it as an accent to their own original instrumental track and drum beat. ... Anyway, it's an awesome song, and I listened to it whenever it was in rotation on my Japan Airlines flight. =DDD |

What are you guys talking about?
| What are you guys talking about? BoA can sing (much much better than a lot of current J Stars), it's just english before wasn't her strong suit. She's much better in this song. Way to practice BoA! M-Flo as always was awesome. They have an intriguing style in their rapping and mix the english and japanese extremely well. It's true that this type of song is a little bit different for BoA but she has had some similar ones and she does some incredible ballads as well. Believe me, my BoA collection is huge. I definitely recommend this song as a must listen. The video was very intriguing to watch as well. Not boring for one second. Wish there could have been maybe a little more dancing which is typical of BoA. She's one awesome dancer. But otherwise they looked cool and I think it enhanced the song. I miss Lisa with M-Flo as well. But their current strategy with the M-Flo loves ... is intriguing and gives their songs a different flavor. The problem maybe with M-Flo previously was that their songs were starting to sound similar. So this is a definite step up for them. Awesome song! |

Collaboration at it's Best
| M-Flo is one of the top hip-hop groups in Japan with, in my opinion, is the best producer Taku Takahashi. BoA is the rising young star from Korea taking over the japanese pop scene. I've been a fan of BoA since her first album release in korea and I've always loved M-Flo after hearing their song "How You Like Me Now?" This collaboration speaks volume and the beat is very catchy and easily danced to. One of the best singles ever. |

new twist to old school
| Love Bug is a good song, but it's important to keep in mind that the beat is a remix of 1980 Sugarhill Gang's 'Rapper's Delight', a cornerstone of rap music. Some of the bridge lyrics are even taken from Rapper's Delight ("...hip hop the hippie the hippie to the hip hip hop, a-you don't stop..."). As the mood of Rapper's Delight is a very jovial, upbeat one, Love Bug follows the same guidelines, with BoA leading the chorus and m-flo supplying the 'uh uh' and 'ooh wee' in the background, as well as the typical rap sections. Love Bug follows the usual m-flo flair with a lot of heavily mixed instrumentals - the difference in this song between Love Bug and other 'm-flo loves ...' songs is simply BoA's tremendous talent and familiarity for pop music. Love Bug is more hip hop than songs off her solo albums, and she makes the transition with high class. The video to Love Bug fits the song like many other m-flo songs, and adds a creative twist with the cell-shaded looking art contrasting with the real-life scenes, almost as if they are in a different world while the song is performing. The Love Bug is an excellent new school adaptation to a classic, and does so by successfully integrating m-flo's uptempo hip hop style with BoA's savvy pop style. Don't miss this one! |
