Jackie scores again!
|
In "The Myth", Jackie Chan plays two roles, one as a Qin dynasty general charged with shepherding the emperor's new Korean concubine (Kim Hee Sun) to the capital and the other as a contemporary archeologist (who just happens to have amazing martial arts skills). The film's story is filled with such pure hokum as an immortality pill and a meteorite that causes people to levitate. Yes, it's silly and unbelievable, but "The Myth" is such a well-made film and so much fun, that the viewer willingly suspends disbelief and eagerly embarks on this entertaining thrill ride. Jackie does a fine job in both of his roles and performs some truly eye-popping stunts. (The accompanying DVD showing lots of behind the scenes footage makes for fascinating viewing as we see how some of these stunts were set up.) The lovely Kim Hee Sun and the voluptuous Mallika Sherawat provide beautiful eye candy and Tony Leung provides able support. All in all, "The Myth" is a blast to watch and well worth your time. |

The Myth
| Not your normal Jackie's film but I love every second of it, eternal love, honour and courage.A few familiar Jackie's martial moves incorporated into new routines. This myth about the Qin Emperor obsessed with eternal life is actually true as we've studied it in history.Anyway, the plot is unique as it seeks to question "do you believe in reincarnation"? The original song is very haunting and grows on you. The duet was sung by Jackie and Kim during the movie but in the music video by somebody else. Detailed attention to costumes (Jackie's 'armour' looks like the one worn by one of the terracotta warriors. Can you spot it?) |

Kewl film
Kewl film
| This film is definitely not a normal Jackie Chan film. I bought if for my boyfriend for his birthday and he LOvEd it. Good story line- very creative/imaginitive. Nice action scenes. Jackie Chan plays a more serious role in this film. That was a surprise. It doesn't lack the comedy, though. I proclaim this a "must-see." |

Nice
| Jackie's movie has always been one of the nicest kung-fu. Good stunts as expected. Kim Hee Seon is real lucky to work with a hollywood star. Watch this movie. |

The Myth
| Sorry... disappointing. So much potential but story peters out. Beautiful actress... love Jackie Chan but he is getting older. Main problem was with the story and I found myself fastforwarding so I actually reloaded it to see if I missed something... unfortunately no. |

Above average
| This film had potential. I didnt like the idea how the film kept switching back and forth from past to future. If the film was only based on Jacky Chan's story in fighting for the Quing Dynasty then this would have been a top film becasue the scenery and fighting scenes was spectacular and you could feel the emotion in Jacky's acting. Overall not bad film. |

Need a little bit ancient Chinese history's backgr
|
Yes, the story line goes so far back to the first Empire of the ancient Chinese, the Qin. Maybe Hero movie's story line is more simple than this one. I don't know why it didn't paid of the cost of making of this movie? Maybe the China (mainland) is more popular than HongKong? Anyway, the movie was good. Exoticly beautiful actresses, especially the Korean actress. Shaolin's temple is rooted back into India, that's the connection in the movie, etc. |
