I have grown up on watching Jackie Chan movies. I've seen and pratically probably own all of them. I say that he is a versitile but geniune stay true to your self actor. Besides he makes this funny but subtlties. It is better than the hollywood haha's that we get. Plus it's a flashback between two lives kinda thing.

I saw a simular one called Dr Wei and the Scriptures, starring Jet Li and Rosamund Kwan and a few others. It wasn't as tasteful as this was done. Plus you see Jackie outside and inside his element all at the same time.

I really enjoyed this movie and so I reccomend it.

Oh and for Final Fantasy fans it gets a bit Tidsa and Yuna-- you'll know when you see it.

Good effort by Stanley Tong and Jackie Chan. Both me and Chinese wifey enjoyed the film, did'nt expect Crouching Tiger standard, or police story as Jackie is getting older now so the days of throwing himself off 4 storey buildings are probably at an end, but that does'nt stop him attempting to break out of the "Oriental Harold LLoyd slapstick" genre into gentler more serious roles. Certainly a better effort than his Hollywood roles of a few years ago.

Great story,great sound effects, great visual effects, great movie. Die LO and Mihn if you have the Avant-Garde, you need a DTS-compatible home theather to listen the movie. These version don't have Dolby Digital soundtrack(only the director commentaty).

Good Effort but horrible plot Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
This movie is like total downside plot compare to his last movie new police story, jackien try to make movie mix with element not his style. The plot is interest at first but start making non sense, sure there's few good scene but can't support overall plot, not to mention but not good ending, Is not that i dunno like ancient movie, i like to watch those but this one has far too much mistake such as why general uniform look same or similra has solider and all of them has nice uniform non sense, watch it unless u serious fan otherwhise NO.

First, I really like the story! They have also done a great job on the music. I'm mostly impressed by Jackie Chan's acting as well as the amazing beautiful Kim Hee Sun. However, the computer graphics is like from the 80s! I was very disappointed in that considering how much great work they have done on so many other aspects of the movie..I also find the ending ruining the great story.. (I mean, if someone is waiting for something for a long time, I'd like to see either they get what they have been waiting for, or their wait is ended.)

yet, I still give a high rating because there were a lot of great moments in the movie that you would really remember and want to see those scenes again. I am very impressed with those moments.

With the expectation of the horrible computer graphics, I think you'll enjoy this movie! :-)

Overall, The movie was decent but it could have been better. I could do without Tony Leung because Jackie and the rest of the Ladies already carried the movie along. It isn't one of Jackie's best but always A for effort. I give it one thumbs up...

This edition only has 1 audio track which can only be used on DTS compatable equipment. Yesasia should have emailed to inform you of this. It cannot be used on conventional equipment like a normal tv.

Seriously, folks... I'm a big fan of Jackie and his movies and have enjoyed ALL of his movies over the years, but... OMG, this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. For that reason only, everyone should watch it.

The script is bad, the story is half-baked... oh, the computer graphics. Nothing works in the movie. OK, there were a few good action sequences as usual for Jackie's movie, and the Korean actress was pretty hot (only if she was 10 years younger). Oh, what's up with the close-up shots of Jackie's face as General Meng Yi... every single one is squeezed horizontally to make his face skinnier. Just watch it, you'll know what I'm talking about. This is sad... very sad.
