康熙晚年，體弱多病，急欲在眾世子中選一人繼承大業。其中四子胤祺與十四子殷禎相爭最為激烈。當時，學藝而成的年羹堯欲結交各處志士為反清復明而努力。遵師囑：不妨先進京投效於世子麾下，取得大權後再覓機行事。後年投效於四子麾下。經試探，康熙決心將大任托於十四子。四子得密報後，命年設法篡改詔書。年竊得詔書，篡改後送回。果然康熙駕崩時，四子順利繼承皇位，年號雍正。遂封年為大將軍，即日西征。年經多年之征戰，早將宏志棄諸腦後，驕縱不可一世，雍正召見時亦不知收斂，雍正決定將他除去。在一日之間將之連降十八級，年悔之晚矣！悔恨之餘，年號召天下志士，擇日起義。不幸事機不密，雍正親率大內高手圍困年等人。掀起一場惡戰，年拼死搏鬥，但終於死在雍正之暗器重圍中。
During the Ching Dynasty, Kang His was very sick and was urgent to choose a prince to succeed his throne. Prince Yin Chen and Yin Chin competed intensely. After careful observation, Kang His decided to make Yin Chin as his successor. However, Yin Chen sent Nien to alter the document into his favour. Nien was able to fulfill this task with the help from Pe and Kan Feng Chin. Yin Chen intended to kill Pe and Kan but was persuaded and stopped by Nien. After the death of Kang His, Yin Chen succeeded to the throne and named Yung Cheng. Nien was promoted to Field-Marshal and getting very powerful. On the other hand, Yung Cheng was worried about Nien's power and decided to destroy him. Nien got Yung's paper to kill another prince to safeguard himself. Nevertheless, it had been stolen back by Yung. Nien knew that his glorious days were over. It was too late when he found himself a degraded officer. Nien was killed in this battle.
