YesAsia Editorial Description
Classic historical series The Rise of The Great Wall dramatizes the life and legend of the first emperor of China, Emperor Qin, who famously unified China by conquering the six states and ordered the construction of the Great Wall. His feats and faults have made him one of the most controversial figures in Chinese history.
This 63-episode epic series from ATV stars Anthony Lau, who played Emperor Qian Long in Li Han Hsiang's films, in the role of Qin. The all-star supporting cast includes Damian Lau as assassin Jing Ke, Petrina Fung as Meng Jiang Nu, Wong Wai as Lu Bu Wei, and Michelle Yim as Jing Ke's lover. When the series aired in 1986, it garnered great reviews and ratings, and the theme song sung by Gallen Lo was extremely popular as well.

big mistake!
|
for michelle fans out there don't be mistaken when seeing her name listed. she's not lead or second lead, she appears for a grand total of around 20 minutes. although she looked absolutely beautiful through out the 20 minutes. i don't understand why damian would fall for the other girl while he has michelle waiting for him?! the main actress petrina fung looked really old and unattractive not to mention tired. it was said that she was going through her divorce at the time so i guess it's understandable. |

awesome series,but?
| This is an awesome series no doubt about it. The only thing i dislike was the dialogue was all in mandarin. There was no problem with me understanding mandarin, it is just that it would be better if there was a cantonese version of it. I saw the original in cantonese and i want it cantonese. Other then the audio problem, this movie really got me interested in chinese history. The emperor was very convincing and jing ke, played by damian lau, is another i really respect in the whole movie. it is their actually actually brings their characters alive. check it out, even though it is atv movie!!! it is one of their best series ever!!!!! |
