The Sentimental Swordsman VCD

The star-director team from The Magic Blade, actor Di Lung and director Chor Yuen, reteam for The Sentimental Swordsman, a gripping swordplay epic adapted from the stories of famed author Gu Long. Di Lung is Li Hsin Hsuan, a truly righteous swordsman whose sense of justice and right may prove to be his undoing. After having his life saved by a rival swordsman, he gives up the woman he loves to his saviour, and enters a period of loneliness, where alcohol is his only solace. He befriends mysterious swordsman Fei (Derek Yee), who soon becomes the only man Li can trust. When Li gets framed for crimes he didn't commit, the partnership of the two swordsmen is put to the test. Can this "sentimental swordsman" discover the identity of his tormentors? A rich storyline is the backdrop for The Sentimental Swordsman, and director Chor Yuen brings powerful drama and epic pageantry to the stunning twists and turns of Gu Long's original works. Di Lung turns in a powerful performance as the title character in this intrigue-filled epic, which co-stars some familiar Shaw Brothers faces, including Ngok Wah, Candace Yu On On, and Derek Yee Tung Sing.

It's payback time. Chu creates romantic worlds lavishly infused with flamboyant atmospheric settings as evident by this film receiving the 1978 Golden Horse Best Cinematography Award.
