Excellent Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I agree with Kevin Kennedy. I also bought the CD on a whim and for the same reasons. Kiya Xu is a real talent. I can`t say I agree with the comparisons mentioned by Kevin, but this is a worthwhile purchase.

A major new artist! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I purchased Xu Qian Ya's "The South of Colorful Clouds" purely on a whim. I'd never heard of her and knew nothing about her, but liked the album cover, thought the song titles sounded intriguing, and especially liked the amazing low price.

What a thrilling surprise this album turned out to be! Xu Qian Ya has a remarkable, pitch-perfect, strong, clear voice that she uses to spectacular effect on this superb collection of finely crafted songs. The album opens with an exotic, mid-tempo number ("The South of Colorful Clouds"), follows that up with an out-and-out rocker ("Aspired"), then follows that with a heart-felt ballad ("Beijing Lover"). Those opening songs give a hint of the album's rich diversity of styles.

Miss Xu's voice reminds me most of A-Mei Chang, but there are hints also of Faye Wong and Karen Mok. However, I don't want to give the impression that she sounds derivative or imitative of other artists. Miss Xu is an original talent with an amazing big voice.

My favorite tracks include "The South of Colorful Clouds", "The Suzhou River", "Blue Wind from the Ocean", and "Unforgettable". The songwriting and playing on this album are excellent. The sound recording is crisp and clear.

I still don't know anything about Xu Qian Ya, other than the fact that she is a thrilling singer with one terrific album. I eagerly look forward to her future work. And I give this album my absolutely highest recommendation. This is great!!!
