YesAsia Editorial Description
TVB groomed five young actors in the early 1980s, namely, Andy Lau, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Felix Wong, Michael Miu, and Ken Tong, together known as the "Five Tigers". Their popularity has extended from TV dramas to the silver screen, and some of them have even become internationally recognized stars. The last film that gathered all five of them together was the 1991 movie The Tigers, directed by Eric Tsang. Ken Tong is a drug trafficker, while the other four Tigers are cops working under Sergeant Tin, portrayed by veteran actor Leung Ka Yan.
In The Tigers, the four young cops and their boss are five tragic characters who, despite leading a righteous life all along, fail to resist one temptation, but this one mistake costs far more than what they can afford. Sergeant Tin leads his four subordinates to successfully combat numerous criminals. However, Tin lets go of his relative (Ken Tong) who is working under a drug lord. His four subordinates let greed take over their souls momentarily, and split the illicit money among themselves, without knowing that they are digging their own graves.

The Five Tigers' Final Project Together....
|
It's a pity that this was the original TVB five tigers' last project together. They may have worked together many times in TVB series back in the 80's but this was their movie project together. The films bring excellent acting from each character as well as a good and straight-forward story. Many may have not liked the ending but such an ending is more dramatic and more emotional, giving the audience more of a feeling when watching. Excellent film and definitely one to watch for TVB tigers fans. |
