Pop duo Twins are back slaying in the grandest and most successful production of legendary epic genre this year! With impressive box office results under its belt (the highest 2004 summer box office hit), Twin Effect II has a thrilling mix of teen idols, plot twists, beautiful scenery, cinematical choreography - and the debut of international martial star Jackie Chan's son, Jaycee Fong - to keep its audience hyper.
In an ancient Amazonian kingdom, undercover government agent Blue Bird (Gillian Chung) joins forces in a mission with slave trader 13th Young Master (Charlene Choi) to find the holy sword that'll aid the rightful king in reclaiming his kingdom from a man-hating empress. The two heroines incur the two possible heirs, Charcoal Head (Jaycee Fong) and Blockhead (Wilson Chen) and their adventurous journey begins.
To replicate last year's success at awards ceremony, directors Corey Yuen and Patrick Leung devoted most of the movie's massive budget to incorporating plenty of action and special effects in carefully choreography scenes, shooting in Yunnan. The movie stars other big star names like Tony Leung Ka-fai, Daniel Wu, Chu Ying, Chan Pak Sum and the climatic cameo fight between Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan.
Seems like things are optimistic for the possible Twins Effect III!

The ancent land of Huadu, ruled by a cruel empress, is a place where men are subservient to women. Despite her ruthlessness, the empress and her chief eunuch. Chiu Ngai, live in fear of a prophecy saying that a boy shall rise to become emperor, and restore the reign of men. To prevent this, the empress sends out her warriors to kill any child who fulfils the terms of the prediction… Char, is the humble boy born to be king. He and his adopted brother Coal perform in a traveling show run by their foster father Blackwood. Their friend Tao gives them a stone with a treasure map engraved upon it. The pair set out on an epic journey to find fortune and glory. They are joined on their odyssey by two fierce warrior women, Blue and Spring , and together, survive a series of challenges. The youngsters meet General Lone, a master swordsman intent on overthrowing the empire. To do so, Lone must first duel the lord of Armour in order to gain access to the mysterious treasure. Finally, the boy who would be emperor must lead and army against the forces of the empress….

Better than expected.

Judging by the terrible, terrible Twins movies that I have seen (I'm looking at you Twins - Mission) I expected a brain numbing mess, happily I was mostly wrong. The action is okay (although some of the wire fighting doesn't seem to connect right) and the effects are pretty fair and the fight between Donny Yen and Jackie Chan seemed like it was from a much better movie. The story doesn't really make much sense but is played with so much fun that you don't really notice and the 'Twins' are as usual as cute as a sack of puppies. Mainstream enjoyable fluff. |

Potential not realized
| The beginning of this movie with the typical gender roles flipped seemed promising of a different story, but it was as if the writers realized it was going to get too complicated to continue, so anything inspiring was dropped to keep viewers interested. The only thing that kept me watching was the foreshadowing of a Jackie Chan cameo & a showdown between him & Donnie Yen. I felt I was left hung out to dry & that's so wrong. |

This is a must see movie. Nice kung-fu stunts. The effects they did is nice. First time i've seen Gillian Chung in an action film. Suits her. Worth buying. |

Interesting Adventure

Comparing this one to the first one is like comparing banans with apples.. Its so much better in every area of filming. The plot is more interesting, even though its nothing superior fancy. Characters are more interesting and the action is heavier and more of it aswell! All in all, this is a film that gives you what HK cinema does best.. action and comic! If you want to see one good adventure movie, check this one out! Also the fight between Jackie and Donnie is aswsome! |

Good movie
| A very good movie. Very nice graphics, plot and action. The Twins did a good job, very nice performance. A well balanced storyline with action and humor. The only downside is that Jackie Chan were only in the movie for about 5 minutes. However, all in all, the movie is a must see! |
