Maddeningly inconsistent horror/comedy
| Has there ever been a more inconsistent film than "The Vampire Who Admires Me"? The film features some genuinely funny moments, some good scary scenes, and a handful of effective performances (most notably by JJ Jia, Jo Koo, and even Maggie Li). Unfortunately, the film also is saddled with some truly tedious scenes, lots of jokes that fall flat, a host of badly made-up vampires, and some atrocious acting from the likes of Natalie Meng. (I thought that she had some naive charm in "Beauty and the 7 Beasts", but that charm has faded fast in her subsequent roles.) "The Vampire Who Admires Me" can provide the viewer with an evening of generally enjoyable light entertainment, but don't get your hopes too high. |
