Starring Choi Jin Sil (My Rosy Life) and Song Seon Mi (The Great White Tower), MBC's 2004 drama The War of Roses is about love, marriage, and the myriad conflicts and quarrels that come with the package. The story follows two strong and independent women who, in reaching a crisis point in their relationships, come to learn more about themselves. Playing opposite the two beautiful actresses are Choi Soo Jong and Ryu Jin (Summer Scent).

Oh Mi Yeon (Choi Jin Sil) is the picture of a strong, confident, and accomplished woman. At work, she is a successful obstetrician, and trying to turn her hospital into the best name in women's care. At home, she dominates over her child and husband (Choi Soo Jong), who seems to live only to love and serve her. Then she discovers that her husband is having an affair. Mi Yeon's competitive sister Mi Ran (Song Seon Mi) has no use for marriage. As a psychiatrist, she spends plenty of time analyzing the minds of men, and believes marriage to be a prison for women. When her boyfriend (Ryu Jin) proposes, she naturally refuses, but then he starts seeing someone else and she wants him back.

ローズ産婦人科の美人姉妹は、二人とも自立した今どきの女性。産婦人科医の長女ミヨンは、母親の反対を押し切り、会社員のスチョルと駆け落ちしてゴールイン。ところが、実直で優しいスチョルは何かと間の悪いところがあって、いつもミヨンを怒らせてばかりのトラブルメーカーだった。一方、次女のミランは精神科医という仕事柄、結婚に対してある種構えたところがあって、長年付き合っていた御曹司ジェハのプロポーズを断ってしまう。傷心のジェハは、ミランとの別れを考えるが…。
