2009 Singapore romantic comedy The Wedding Game was a box-office winner in Singapore and Malaysia during the Chinese New Year frame. Written and directed by Thai-Chinese director Ekachai Uekrongtham (Beautiful Boxer), the story of two actors who conspire to boost their careers by faking an engagement with each other is played by real-life couple Fann Wong and Christopher Lee, who actually got married in 2009. This is the screen couple's latest collaboration after starring together in a string of TV series including the 1998 version of Return of the Condor Heroes. The Wedding Game also stars Hong Kong singer-actress Alice Lau, as well as Taiwanese actor Charles "Blackie" Chen as Fann's sissy manager in a show-stealing performance.

When Jack (Christopher Lee) goes on stage to pick up his Best Actor statue at a showbiz awards ceremony, he suddenly proposes marriage to actress Vicky (Fann Wong), who happily says yes in response. This romantic proposal turns out to be nothing but a publicity stunt orchestrated by their managers, despite Jack and Vicky being bitter enemies in reality. Things seem to go well for them, but when an unexpected incident threatens to expose their elaborate scheme, they must do everything they can to maintain their feinted romance...

The story begins when Jack (Christopher Lee) publicly proposes to Sue (Fann Wong) during the live telecast of a regional awards show. Surprised but happy, Sue accepts. What the public doesn't know is that the entire love affair is an elaborate and meticulously planned ruse designed by their ambitious managers May and Tom.
