Ge Lan's best !! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Ge Lan's acting was never regarded as an actress as great as Lucilla You, Lin Dai or Betty Loh Ti but in this film, no one can play better than her.

With so many good songs and scenes for her, you will love to hate her after watching it.

JAJAMBOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!! BRAVA! BRAVA! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
By the time "Wild Wild Rose" showed up in the theatres
in the 60s, Ge Lan (Grace Chang) fans are ready for another "Sock it to them" performance from the finest
singer-actress of the time. Mesmerized by her work in hits like "Mambo Girl","Air Hostess", Cathay was all
out in providing a GREAT singing/acting role for her to
display her talents, not only was she to sing pop songs, she also get the chance to sing two arias from
well known opera, "Carmen" and "Madame Butterfly". One
can see she meet all these challenges in flying colors.
"Wild Wild Rose" is the first musical FILM NOIR Hongkong came up with (written up in the New York Film
Society publication "FILM COMMENT"). This film is growing in cult status now that more people can see it on this DVD release. In answer to the question---who
won BEST ACTRESS that year in the Asian Film Festival ?
It was Lin Dai (her 3rd award) for "Les Belles"--does
it matter after all these years ? See both movies and
judge for yourself. For me, Ge Lan's "JAJAMBOOOOOOOO"
will always get the biggest "BRAVA ", "BRAVISSIMA" from
me !

A True Classic Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I have never been a fan of Grace Chang for superficial reasons. Her nose was too flat & her voice was too high. Moreover she was with Cathay which was in my opinion , inferior to Shaw Brothers in the quality of their productions.
Tonight a friend gave me the dvd of THE WILD WILD ROSE to watch & I must say Grace Chang in all her splendour & acting glory took my breath away. The 1st 15 minutes was hard as the film was shot in dreadful black & white. But none of that mattered & Grace Chang managed to keep me glued to my TV screen for the entire length of the movie. She is one hell of an actress & whoever deprived her of an acting award that year did her a great injustice. Buy this dvd! I know I will look forward to more of her movies from now on. And yes, her singing voice is not bad either.

Grace Kok Lan's Super pewrformance Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
We have seen Grace Kok Lan as the educated lady in the rich family in " The Sun, The Moon and The Star" . It is really exiting to see Grace Kom Lan as the dancing girl in the night club in " The Wild, Wild Rose". these are completely different characters that require tremendous talent in acting to carry out these 2 roles successfully. I have to say that Grace Kom Lan was really perfect and she could interpret 100 percent the characters in the roles that she played. Another unique plus for Grace was her talents in singing and dancing. They were so wonderful that she could interpret any type of songs with much feeling and inspiration. She had couples of songs in this movie that really nice to enjoy, these songs were even more difficult to interpret than the songs she sang in " The Mambo Girl". She really deserved to be the best actress in film festival if the movie " The Wild, Wild Rose" was nominated in 1960.

We are looking forward to faster release of Cathay's Library to match up with the release of Shaw Brothers which goes much faster. Cathay and Shaw Brothers were both excellent in producing movies with quality and maintained competitive hand in hand during the 60'. It would be still a big miss if you only enjoy movie of one without the other.
Go faster, Cathay !.
