Mok stars as Tong Yunhai, a young British-educated man from one of the most prominent and wealthy families of 1930s Shanghai. Soon after Yunhai returns to Shanghai, his father gets kidnapped, leaving the family and business affairs in a state of crisis. The perpetrator is eventually captured but dies mysteriously in prison, leaving many questions in the air. Taking over the family business, Yunhai realizes that there are countless dangers lurking in the shadows, with cases of arson, swindling, robbery, and even murder arising to threaten his company. Pulled into a ring of deception and hardball, Yunhai must fight back to take down the mastermind behind these crimes.
