Matsu Takako one of the top Japanese easy-listening stars is in the form of her life to present fans with her latest emotion-filled song. It was featured in the 2004 summer TV drama RUNAWAY , a remake of the bluckbuster movie The Fugitive that starred Harrison Ford. Takako made an exception this time and performed a song for a TV release that she was not involved in as an actress. Yet, her fans will surely like her new song for which she wrote the lyrics herself, while singer/song writer Akeboshi took care of its composition.

An Interesting Change

Takako (Fujima) Matsu has gone from nice, but generic easy pop music to a singer/musician who can confidently handle a variety of different genres. I have watched her development from her first album "Empty Mirror" and her staring role in Shunji Iwai's little gem of a film called "April Story" right through to her collaboration with fellow musician Yoshio Akeboshi and she is finally starting to make some really interesting music. With her creativity in full swing who knows what kind of musical delights she will be offering to us fans. Perhaps an anthem like Celine Dion, or Woody Guthrie country blues like Kuwata's Southern All Stars, or a charismatic re-injection of folk/roots music like Soul Flower Union, or a foray into Claude Challe territory with chill-out beats like Ryukyu Underground........ I will be listening very carefully from now on. |
