《男人之苦》第33集，導演山田洋次自言是一次探討愛情「悲苦」之旅。 寅次郎（渥美清飾）在東北岩手縣盛岡市遇上久違了的兄弟登（秋野太作飾），發現對方已成家立室，不再飄泊，腳踏實地過日子。寅不禁慨嘆自己一把年紀，還浪蕩人生，所以當他在北海道遇上風子（中原理惠飾）時，便警惕她要努力工作，嫁個老實人，踏實地生活。但風子恃著年青，渴望像寅一樣浪跡天涯，體驗人生，最後還搭上了電單車手東尼（渡瀨恆彥飾）。明知與浪子東尼戀愛，沒有好下場，但風子卻不能自拔。「世界上有帶來幸福的戀愛，也有帶有悲傷的戀愛」，導演今次要說的是後者。《男人之苦》系列中罕見地對愛情提出傷感、保守的答案。 此外，社長的女兒明美（美保純飾）亦由今集起至第39集成為主要人物之一。
The 33rd instalment in the Tora-san series. Tora-san meets an old friend whom he hasn't seen for a number of years. His friend is now a married man. He has abandoned his wandering life and settled down. This makes Tora-san feels sorry for himself. So, when he meets a pretty but troubled barber (Rie Nakahara), who was unable to hold down a steady job and wants to become a wanderer, Tora-san urges her marry someone reliable and stop being unrealistic. He accompanies her to Nemuro where she falls for a motorcycle rider at a circus. Later, when Tora-san is attending the wedding of neighbor Akemi (Jun Miho, in her series debut), he and the barber are reunited again.
