One of the most important figures in China's "new music" movement, Rock Star and Beijing native, Dou Wei burst onto the music scene in the late 1980s, just as China's artists and musicians were beginning to reap the benifits of the political policy of "reform and opening up." Most infamous for his 1999 divorce from fellow Star Faye Wong, Dou Wei, (along with Cui Jian and others) introduced a generation of Chinese young people to an experimental, hard-edged rock sound that is still being imitated by Chinese musicians almost a decade later. This new CD includes songs carefully selected from previous albums to give listeners an idea of the wide range of feeling and emotions captured in Dou Wei's large body of work. As a bonus, this release comes with a second AVCD, featuring three music videos and two brand new songs. A must have for all fans of Chinese rock!
