Anguished by her unrequited love for Lo Sai-yin, Yip Lai-king vows to dampen the marital bliss blessing Lo and his wife Sung Yuk-ying. In view of the emperor's impending death, Lai-king, the niece of Empress Yip, insinuates herself into the heirless empress's confidence, scheming for her husband Lee Kei-man to stay with the Los to seize their newborn son who is hailed to the throne posing as the crown prince. Lee, forced into submission to dispatch Sung and drive Lo into exile, doesn't have the heart to kill Sung but renders her relief in her reclusive existence. Five years later, Lo rejoins Sung in the capital and infiltrates the palace to meet their son Siu-yin with Lee acting as their informant. With the alarm raised, Yip arrests the couple. Siu-yin lodges a complaint with Eighth High Lord who redresses his parents' grievances and brings the treacherous empress and Yip to justice. The crown prince reunites with his family after years of separation.
