Anata no Kokoro Ni
|
This single doesn't just have one song on it. Treat or Goblins is, I guess, bearable (I don't like it). It's the OP of "Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai" (Abenobashi Magical Shopping District). As described, it's somewhere between rap, techon and pop. A strong rythm, a positive atmosphere, raps in both English and Japanese and hardly any melody dominate the song. However, the chorus is very catchy and you'll find yourself humming along soon once you've acquired a taste for 'Treat or Goblins'. The actual 'treat' of this maxi is the second song, though. It's 'Anata no Kokoro ni' (within your heart). Simple, poetic and philosophical lyrics make the song worth mulling over, but it also has an excellent melody. The instrumental isn't very present and it is Hayashibara-san's voice that carries most of the song (and it does it well). The main sound apart from her is a guitar, violins and, I think, a xylophone. The melody is somewhere between nostalgic and serene, but the song is far from slow. For an ED it's suprisingly fast, in fact. It's hard to properly describe 'Anata no Kokoro ni', but it's an extremely good song. This single is a /must/ buy for every fan of Studio Gainax (they produced Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai) or Megumi Hayashibara, and even those who are taken with neither should seriously consider it. |

good
| This is unlike her recent singles. It has a mixture of rap, pop, and a little techno. A bit like Until Strawberry Sherbet. True, it does takes some getting use to. But it is nonetheless, a very very good song. |
