She stands APART. Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
When I first heard Mika Nakashima on a TV network in November 2001 (which also marked her singing debut with 'Stars'), I was so ecstatic that I told myself: 'She's gonna be a big hit.' I bought this album shortly after it was released. After listening to it, I declared it to be the best album released in 2002.

And with good reason: where artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Avril Lavigne, Shakira, and the like dominated all music charts, Mika dominated the Oricon 200 Album Chart with a musical style made up of sophisticated adult contemporary and jazz songs with a Latin bent. All that is shown here in a well done concoction of luxurious styles that equate her with ANY easy listening artist. The best examples of this can be found in the songs 'Will' (a VERY romantic and sad single), 'One Survive' (a sophisticated Latin pop song with jazzy beats), 'Crescent Moon' (same), 'Stars' (a sad ballad which came from her TV debut, 'Kizudarake no Love Song'), and the album's closer, 'A Miracle for You.' These songs - and Mika's vocals - show exactly why this album set the standard for what Mika would do later on, but 'Love' and 'Best' (both incredible albums) outsold it.

FINAL VERDICT: Well done debut from the then 19-year-old adult contemporary diva. Mika is the best adult contemporary female artist of all time. The rest, in reality, is history.

Highly Enjoyable, Pure Vocals Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This is Mika's very first album, and shows just how strong of a start she had. Even on her very first album, she has exceptional control of her voice, and is just able to let out some very beautiful melodies. I felt that this CD and Music were fairly similar in their styles, whereas Love presented sort of a step back into something a little funkier and a little less straight-up pop. Although there are no artists credited as being featured, there a coupel of tracks which feature some background rapping/singin by other performers, which I believe is unique as far as Mika's music goes. One thing that's pretty amazing about Mika is how her music can start off with one sound, and yet, as soon as she joins in, she makes it into her own sound. This definately shows through in this album, especially on songs like One Survive (which is a really fun song to listen to) and Crescent Moon, a track with a hint of a house beat weaving in and out of the background. Some of my favorites on this album were One Survive, Destiny's Lotus, True Eyes, and Crescent Moon. Mika's voice is just so amazing and I believe this album is the best one of hers if you jsut want the raw sound of her voice and not get distracted too much by the instrumentals or the "feel" of the music. You have to enjoy this album for Mika and Mika alone.

Nice Variety! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This is the first album from the ever popular Mika nakashima.i honestly didn't really think much of at the time until i overheard 2 of her songs and liked it very much and decided to take a leap of faith and get this album! The album features many new versions of songs released prior to the album all of which i've never heard so really can't compare between the new and the old.The 2 songs i heard did not get new versions.
The Album Version Amazing Grace is very sweet. It is a lovely rendition of the classic hymn.It has a very serene feel to it.it just features Mika's amazing vocals and some very peaceful and calming sounds.it has a nice and simple melody which is just right to enter this album.Near the end of the song only a piano plays with Mika's vocals.
The album version of Will is a lovely ballad.Mika just has a beatiful ballad voice. This song and her vocals complement eachother. She sounds so sweet singing ballads...this is something you must experience..she really sounds amazing on this track.this features a really nice band in it.
The Album Version of One Survive is a nice upbeat song.It has very nice disco music used in it.The chorus is also very addictive...it has nice melody and very catchy. This entire is really catchy. The disco gives the song a very nice vibe to it...another you must hear!
Heaven on Earth is a nice R&B song. This is Mika singing in her usual style...R&B.The chorus has a very easy beat to hum along to.The song is average for Mika but all the same just as enjoyable. This is song you can groove to...has this easy sounding beat.
Destiny's Lotus is a really cool upbeat song.It has R&B fused with a kind of dance beat.It sounds really different to the rest of the album! You can actually dance to this song.It flows really well and with Mika's vocals you can't go wrong with this song!It is a very enjoyable track and more!
Helpless rain is the 2nd song i ever heard from Mika.At first i never thought much of it but when i sat down and listened to the entire track, i just couldn't get enough of it.It is a ballad using her typical R&B style. If you want mika at her best at R&B then this is what you're looking for.Her vocals are very diva-like on this track. It has a heavy bass and also some orchestra pieces here and there.I love this song so much, it is just so amazing. This is probably the best song in R&B that she sings on this album
I is another R&B ballad...but more on the funkier side. This song is kinda boring during the verses and improves a little at the chorus. The chorus and music have this "i don't have a care" feel to it.The chorus is sung in a high tone with words stretched while singing it.This is overall rather boring.
Tears is a nice flowing ballad.it has nice calm music and vocals to complement the music.Mika actually sounds timid in this track...it is different from her strong side. She seems so sensitive. The music at times seems very magical.I like this song so much, it is just so sweet and mika sounds so lovely in such a timid tone.
True Eyes picks up the pace.it has a very retro sound to it.The music is very upbeat and features this disco flute in it!it is like a blast from the past!
there just isn't a dull moment in this trackin addition to the flute it seems at parts there even is sitar being played. This song was very well thought out!
Cresent Moon was the first track i heard from mika! When this song played it caught my attention. It has a very cool disco beat and is very upbeat. It has some really amazing string work in this track. This is probably her most loveable song! This is Mika at her best!If there is Any track you must hear on this album then this is DEFINITELY it!
The album version of Just trust in Out Love is really nice.It has a nice and steady dance beat to it.it flows remarkably well and it is a very danceable track.Mika's vocals sound rather sweet and caring in this track kind of like a lover's warmth. This is the only track that focuses on a dance beat as the main element.
