Product Information
Director: Luk Bong
Cheung Fung-yee falls in love with her neighbour Sung Man-luen at first sight, but Cheung's father Tai-fu and Sung's mother are at loggerheads with each other and disapprove of their affair. Faking an illness, Cheung pleads with her father to grant her a meeting with Sung, but is herself diagnosed with a terminal illness and given only one hundred days to live by an incompetent doctor. Tai-fu asks for the matriarch's consent to allow the lovers to be a wedded couple for a hundred days. Sung's mother is prepared to accept the nephew Chiu Lai-sheung into the family, but Chiu's covetous father Tak-fuk agrees to yield his future son-in-law for hire, but at a price of two hundred taels of silver. Worried about the monetary implications, Cheung feigns death but Sung stands up to the test of love and vows never to marry again. The 'resurrected' Cheung brings a smile to the faces of Sung and Tai-fu, but Tak-fuk wants his son-in-law back. The dispute is finally settled in the court, where Cheung presents strong evidence to outwit the slipshod magistrate and wins her husband back.
