Always finding ways to reinvent her music style and fashion trend, pop queen Uhm Jung Hwa jumps back in the saddle once again with her new release D.I.S.C.O. This time, she fills up the album with cheerful and easily digestible melodies. In an unprecedented move, Yang Hyun Suk of YG Entertainment takes full charge of Uhm's latest album despite the diva's contractual allegiance to another management agency, drawing much attention within the K-pop community. D.I.S.C.O features a stunning lineup of hit-making producers such as Big Bang's G-Dragon, Perry, Teddy, and Kush, making it one of the most exciting albums of 2008.

Teddy and Kush give a trendy, sophisticated spin to the good old disco sounds in the album, in particular Delegation, Heartache No. 9, and D.I.S.C.O. Teddy tailor-made the songs' lyrics and melodies immediately upon agreeing to produce for Uhm Jung Hwa. 지난 두 장의 앨범‘Self Control’, ‘Prestige’를 통해 일렉트로니카 장르의 색깔이 강한 곡들을 선보여 온 엄정화는 이번 미니앨범 [D.I.S.C.O]에는 누구나 쉽게 즐길 수 있는 발랄한 분위기의 곡들로 채웠다. 엄정화의 이번 앨범은 YG엔터테인먼트가 레이블 설립 이후 최초로 외부 가수의 앨범을 프로듀싱 한다는 소식이 전해지면서부터 화제를 모으고 있다. 특히 앨범에는 최근 국내 가요 수준을 한 단계 높여놨다는 태양의 ‘나만 바라봐’를 작곡한 테디(Teddy)-쿠시(Kush) 콤비를 비롯하여 YG 가수들의 수많은 히트곡을 작곡해낸 페리(Perry), 지난 2007년 국내 가요시장에 ‘거짓말’ 열풍을 일으킨 빅뱅의 지드래곤(G-Dragon)이 프로듀서로 참여 더욱 기대감을 높이고 있다.

총 6곡이 수록된 이번 앨범의 타이틀곡은 테디(Teddy)-쿠시(Kush) 콤비가 만든 ‘D.I.S.C.O’. Delegation의 ‘Heartache No.9’을 샘플링, 디스코 장르를 현대적 사운드로 재해석한 세련된 곡이다. 테디가 엄정화의 프로듀싱을 하기로 결정되는 순간 가사와 멜로디가 순식간에 만들어졌을 정도로 엄정화의 매력을 120% 발산하는, 엄정화에게 꼭 맞는 옷과 같은 곡이다. 여기에 빅뱅의 탑(T.O.P)의 짧지만 임팩트 강한 랩 피처링이 더해져 그동안 국내에서 볼 수 없었던 매우 유니크한 곡으로 탄생됐다.

엄정화의 이번 앨범에는 YG의 프로듀서뿐만 아니라 랩퍼들도 총 출동 했다. 마스터우(Masta Wu)와 디엠(DM)으로 이뤄진 힙합 듀오 YMGA는 ‘KISS Me’에, 빅뱅의 탑은 타이틀곡 ‘D.I.S.C.O’에 참여했다. 지 드래곤과 페리는 각각 ‘Party’와 ‘흔들어’라는 곡을 통해 작곡가로서 뿐만 아니라 랩퍼로도 참여했으며, YG의 기대를 한 몸에 받고 있는 신예 여성 랩퍼 CL은 ‘DJ’에 참여했다. 이번 앨범의 총 프로듀서를 맡은 YG의 수장 양현석 역시‘흔들어’와 ‘Celebration’에 작사가로 참여하는 열정을 보였다. 지난 93년 데뷔, 15년 동안 ‘여왕’의 자리를 지켜온 엄정화의 새 미니앨범 ‘D.I.S.C.O.’는 그녀가 왜 ‘여왕’인지를 증명하는 앨범이 될 것이다.
