1980年代の函館。透けるような白い肌と青い瞳を持つ野田薫は、父親がロシア人であるため、周囲から奇異の目で見られていた。そんな薫を愛し、妻に迎えたのは、峠向こうの漁村に暮らす、漁師の邦一だった。帰国した父親を待ちながらも、漁村暮らしに耐え、薫はやがて女の子を出産する。だが子供が生まれると同時に、夫・邦一との関係がギクシャクしはじめてしまう。そんな薫を孤独から救ったのは、邦一の弟・広次だったのだが…。
谷村志穂の小説を原作に、「失楽園」の森田芳光が監督を担当した濃厚なラブロマンス。対照的な兄弟によるそれぞれの愛の形を軸に、3代に渡る女たちの、命がけの純愛を描いている。ヒロインの薫に扮するのは、本作が初主演作となったモデル出身の伊東美咲。夫と夫の弟に愛された、運命の女を熱演している。
